SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Big Pine 4 has one door and a maximum center height of 5' 8, which is a tiny bit more than the average height of the 154 different 4 person tents we have examined With 60 square feet of room inside, it is a tiny bit smaller than some other 4-person tents, and it could be a little tight for you and, up to three other campers throughout the 3-seasons, this tent is suggested for use in, smaller tents similar to this one generally make a suitable choice for people that enjoy spending heaps of time outside their tent getting some air.

A few of the cool things about dome tents are, that they are for, the most part not too heavy, making them simple to carry. In most all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very straightforward to set up. In good weather, you could do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are easily the most commonly seen of all the other sorts of tents you will see when camping. They tend to fair better in the rain than other types, allowing rain to easily slide off the slanted sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, resulting in the water pooling on the roof. The most basic dome tent will have a square footprint, sloped walls a couple of poles which converge in the center of the roof. Because of their construction, it is typically considered that they are ideal for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Beneath you can find an account of the tent's strongest and weakest points.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Big Pine can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not even have to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Lots of Headroom. With 7% more headroom than similar size tents, one can easily count this as a plus.
  3. Vestibule. Having one vestibule. Affords you a place to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
  4. Internal storage. It is good to see Big Agnes has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your gear.
  5. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the whole body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1500mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy downpours.

CONS

  1. Vulnerable to wind. Because of its size and shape, the Big Pine may not do well in strong winds if it is not firmly secured with the provided guy lines and stakes. Even though the tent is listed as freestanding in all but very calm conditions, one would need to stake and tie it down correctly.
  2. Not roomy. With a floor area of 60 square feet, the Big Pine 4 is smaller than quite a few of the 155 other 4 person tents we have looked at.
  3. No windows. With no windows it is not easy to keep the tent ventilated on a hot summers night.
  4. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, The floor may be made of Polyester rip-stop but it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, more so on rough terrain.
  5. Out of Stock. Unfortunately this particular tent is not currently in stock. It is still on the manufactures website the last time we checked.
  6. A tad heavy for backpacking. Even though the Big Pine 4, looks like a small tent, it is not ideal for backpacking as it weighs 12 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  7. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have many qualities to be positive about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

4.5 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.5 STARS

Big Agnes's Big Pine 4 tent is really good for car camping. Here are a couple of other cool things not noted above which, we noticed and liked, while reviewing the model: The Outfitter Grade Big Pine 4 is built to withstand harsher conditions and heavier use than your average tent, Highly abrasion-resistant, durable fabrics and field repairable buckles make the Big Pine a bomber structure ideal for harsh environments and heavy use and All seams taped with waterproof, solvent-free polyurethane tape (No PVC or VOC's).

With wonderful ratings, and a minimum headroom of 5' and 60 square feet of space to enjoy, this tent is like your own little flat. It enables you and up to 2 other friends to share some delightful moments exploring the great outdoors. We found a decent amount of positive points about the tent that you can read through above.

If you found this page looking for an endorsement on this specific tent, our view is, it will make for an awesome acquisition. If you just happened to land on this website while browsing for a new tent having never heard of this brand or this tent model before, it is probably a good thing to look at a few other comparable tents.

Value for money: When considering value for your money, this tent is right around the normal cost of all the one hundred and fifty-four, four-person tents we have taken a look at, this itself does not make it good value for money. One should also take into account other factors in detail, as we do with each tent.

When we determine the valuation of a tent, we look at a good deal of stuff, looking for points where the tent could outperform other similar tents and where it is lacking. In this case, with an overall rating of 4.5 and the price conclusions above, It is simple enough to spot that with a ticket price of $449.95 Big Agnes's Big Pine 4 is a good deal the purchase price is not unreasonable when set side by side with comparable tents.

The overall score shows that the quality and space, the tent gives you make it a a decent purchasefor people wanting for a good quality 4-person tent. It should make an awesome choice for nearly all people looking for a comfortable three-season dome tent to camp in, that should serve you well for years to come.
