Summary: Favorable Reviews

Some campers said: This one offers superb protection for the doors. On the basis of my experience, pretty well manufactured. Heavy durable zippers were also used. Worth the additional cost.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Some backpackers who used the tent said: I find this tent on the heavier side. The size was smaller than expected, and there wasn't enough room for two people and gear. It was still decent though but there are other options out there.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The El Capitan 2 2+ Outfitter has two doors and a peak center height of 3' 2, which is a little bit smaller than the average height of the 254 different 2 person tents we have studied. With 35 square feet of room inside, it is a little bit larger than some other 2-person tents, and it should accommodate you and, another camper throughout the 3-seasons, this tent is suggested for use in, smaller tents like this one are a fantastic choice for campers that love spending lots of hours outside the tent exploring.

Some of the great things about dome tents are, that they are for, the most part light, making them easy to carry around. In near all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very straightforward to set up. In calm weather, you can do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are easily the most commonly seen of all the various sorts of tents you will find when camping. They tend to fair better in bad weather than other types, allowing rain to roll off the slanted sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, allowing the rain to pool on the top of the tent. The most basic dome tent should have a square footprint, slanted walls two or more poles which converge in the middle of the roof. Due to the way they are made, it is usually considered that they are best suited for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Beneath you can browse a list of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The El Capitan 2+ Outfitter can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not even have to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the floor with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Gives you a place to store shoes and other things that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
  3. Has Gear Loft. It is good to see Eureka adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is simpler to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 150D polyester oxford, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to rips and punctures. Also, the material has a 5000 mm waterproofing rating, which is very good for most circumstances.
  6. Breathable. The El Capitan's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the warmer months.
  7. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the whole body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 2000mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy downpours.
  8. Available in other sizes. Eureka has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  9. Low price. It is a great buy for a 2 person dome tent that provides this much space. Not a lot of tents available on the market provide this level of quality for only $259.95

CONS

  1. Lacking in Headroom. With 6% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative thing for some campers.
  2. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one sold separately designed for the El Capitan 2 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 150D polyester oxford, it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  3. A tad heavy for backpacking. Even though the El Capitan 2, looks like a small tent, it is not ideal for backpacking as it weighs 8 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  4. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have heaps of attributes to be positive about. The sloping sides do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

4.6 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.6 STARS

Eureka's El Capitan 2 2+ Outfitter tent is good for bicycle & motorbike camping. There are a couple of other cool things not already mentioned above which, we noticed and liked, while researching the model: integrated ridgepole to shed wind and rain, Front and rear vestibules feature Eureka's High/Low Vent -Air Exchange System and Zippered fabric panels behind the mesh on doors and walls allow for unmatched ventilation control.

With superb ratings, a few reviews and a center height of 3' and 35 square feet of space to enjoy, this tent is like your own miniature studio. This enables you to enjoy some really enjoyable time in the outdoors. We found lots of pros about the tent that you can read through above.

If you found this page looking for suggestions about this actual tent, we think, it should make for an excellent purchase. If you just happened to arrive on this page while looking for a brand new tent having not heard of this brand or this tent model before, it is possibly a good idea to check out some more similar tents also.

Value for money: When thinking about value for your dollar, this tent is a lot more competitive than the average price point of all the two hundred and fifty-four, two-person tents we have taken a look at, this by itself does not make it excellent value for money. One should also think about other areas in-depth, as we do for each tent.

When we determine the overall score of a single tent, we look at a lot of data points, looking for areas where the tent could shine against other very similar tents and where it is coming up short. In this case, with a total rating of 4.6 and the price statistics above, It is simple to observe that with a cost of $259.95 Eureka's El Capitan 2 2+ Outfitter is a perfect deal and incredibly priced when compared with similar tents.

The ratings show that the quality and space the tent offers were not in any way skimped on to get a price undoubtedly under the standard price for comparable tents. It will make a very good choice for most people searching for an adequate three-season dome tent to camp in, that should serve you well for years to come.
