Summary: Favorable Reviews

Backpackers who used it said: This tent is great! The setup was easy compared to tents I had before. it's also very spacious inside considering I am a 6 foot 2 inches tall. My family of fourcomfortably fit, plus our gears. It's also very durable - we've used it on multiple camping trips and it's held up really well under minimal weather conditions. Kudos to the team!

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Some people who used it: While the tent is advertised as a six-person tent, I found the interior to be a bit cramped. There's a lot headroom but I think having six people inside is a crowd. Also, the storage pockets inside the tent are pretty small. The mesh material is nice but extra care is needed when you have sharp gears on you. Other than that, everythings fine overall.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Cypress 6 has two windows and one door and a peak center height of 6' 0, which is a tiny bit smaller than the average height of the 120 different 6 person tents we have studied. With 100 square feet of space inside, it is a tiny bit smaller than some other 6-person tents, and it could be a little cramped for you and, up to five other campers during the whole of the 3-seasons, this tent is approved for use in, larger tents like this one make an ideal choice for campers who love having loads of space for sleeping and hanging out.

Some of the great things about dome tents are, that they are for, the most part lightweight, making them simple to carry. In most all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very easy to set up. In calm weather, you can do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are the most common of all the various sorts of tents you will see when camping. They tend to fair better in bad weather than other types, allowing water to easily slide off the sloped walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, allowing the water to pool on the top of the tent. The most basic dome tent will have a rectangular floor, sloped sides a couple of poles which cross in the middle of the roof. Due to their construction, it is usually considered that they are best suited for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Below you can see an account of the tent's strongest and weakest points.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Cypress can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not even have to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the floor with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Has Gear Loft. It is nice to see Cedar Ridge adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  3. More than one window. With 2 windows it is simple to keep the tent cooler on a hot summers night.
  4. Breathable. The Cypress's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the warmer months.
  5. Available in other sizes. Cedar Ridge has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  6. Low price. It is a great buy for a 6 person dome tent providing this much space. Not many tents available on the market give this level of quality for only $129.99 info_outline

CONS

  1. Vulnerable to wind. Because of its size and shape, the Cypress may not do well in strong winds if it is not firmly secured with the provided guy lines and stakes. Even though the tent is listed as freestanding in all but very calm conditions, one would want to stake and tie it down correctly.
  2. Not spacious. With a floor area of 100 square feet, the Cypress 6 is smaller than quite a lot of the 128 other 6 person tents we have looked at.
  3. Lacking in Headroom. With 9% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative factor for some campers.
  4. Only one room. The Cypress is designed for 6 people, some other tents of a similar size have more than one room allowing for a little more privacy.
  5. Only one door. With just one exit to get outside in the middle of the night, it may wake other people that are sleeping.
  6. No Vestibules. If you want to keep your dirty shoes, clothes, and backpacks protected from the rain etc, you need keep them inside the tent.
  7. Rainfly does not totally cover the tent. The rainfly only covers the ceiling and part of the tent body from the top. Meaning it might not protect against heavy downpours.
  8. Uses Fiberglass poles. Even though the poles are comprised of shock-corded fiberglass. Using even some fiberglass with a big tent like the Cypress 6 could possibly lead to problems, if there were to be extreemly windy conditions.
  9. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one available separately specifically for the Cypress 6 footprint Even though the floor may be made of PE tub-style, it is still better to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  10. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have lots of qualities to be positive about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION
