SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Solo Trail 1 has one door and a maximum center height of 3' 5, which is a tiny bit smaller than the average height of the 82 other 1 person tents we have examined With 20 square feet of space inside, it is considerably smaller than some other 1-person tents, and it would be quite tight for you during the whole of the 3-seasons, this tent is recommended for use in, smaller tents like this one can make a very nice choice for people who welcome spending loads of time outside the tent exploring.

Some of the great points about dome tents are, that they are generally speaking not too heavy, making them simple to carry. In near all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very easy to set up. In good weather, you could do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are the most common of all the various sorts of tents you will find when camping. They tend to do better in bad weather than other types, allowing rain to easily slide off the slanted walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, resulting in the rain pooling on the roof. The simplest dome tent should have a rectangular footprint, sloped walls a couple of poles which converge in the middle of the roof. Because of their construction, it is generally considered that they are ideal for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Below you can see a list of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Solo Trail can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Gives you somewhere to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is good to see Big Agnes has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your gear.
  4. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the entire body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1200mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy rain.
  5. Low price. It is a great deal for a 1 person dome tent providing this much space. Not many tents available on the market provide this level of quality for only $239.95

CONS

  1. Not roomy. With a floor area of 20 square feet, the Solo Trail 1 is smaller than quite a few of the 83 other 1 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, The floor may be made of Polyester rip-stop but it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, more so on rough terrain.
  3. Out of Stock. Unfortunately this particular tent is not currently in stock. It is still on the manufactures website the last time we checked.
  4. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have many things to be positive about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

4.3 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.3 STARS

Big Agnes's Solo Trail 1 tent is perfect for backpacking. There are a couple of other points not mentioned above which, we noticed and liked, while reviewing the model: Velcro tabs connect fly to pole structure providing perfect pitch and extra stability, 3-D shelf is ideal for stashing oversized gear, utilizing dead space above your feet and Sidecar vestibules provide extra storage that is easily accessible from the interior of your tent..

With good ratings, and headroom of 3' and 20 square feet of space to play with, this tent is like your own modest home away from home. It will enable you to spend some delightful moments camping. We found a decent amount of pros about the tent that you can check out above.

If you came to this website looking for suggestions about this specific tent, we consider, it should make for a good purchase. In case you simply happened to land on this website while looking for a new tent having never heard of this manufacture or this model before, it is perhaps a good idea to check out some more similar tents.

Value for money: In so much as value for your dollar, this tent is more competitive than the usual cost of all the eighty-two, one-person tents we have studied, this alone by itself does not make it great value for money. One should also look at other factors in-depth, as we do for every tent.

When we determine the score of a single tent, we scrutinize loads of stuff, looking for points where the tent could outshine other very similar tents and where it is not quite as good. On this occasion, with a total score of 4.3 and the price statistics above, we can spot that with a cost of $239.95 Big Agnes's Solo Trail 1 is a good purchase and reasonably priced in comparison with similar tents.

Its ratings show that the build and size the tent gives you were not skimped on to get a price significantly beneath the usual price for similar tents. It should make an exceptional choice for nearly all campers looking for a comfortable three-season backpacking tent to go camping in, that will serve you well for years to come.
