Tent Set Up

Simple setup with two people

Summary: Favorable Reviews

Campers who have reviewed the older model mentioned that: It is super fast to set up. We have used it regularly for nine months now, and it's still in excellent condition. The bag is super helpful, too, and makes putting it away a simple task. Packing it up is easy; Beware of setting it up without the fly without underneath pine trees, as the needles might get stuck in it.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Sugarloaf Camp 6 has four windows and two doors and a maximum center height of 7' 4, which is a little bit more than the average height of the 106 various 6 person tents we have examined With 100 square feet of space inside, it is a tiny bit smaller than some other 6-person tents, and it could be a little tight for you and, up to five other campers during the whole of the 3-seasons, this tent is recommended for use in, larger tents like this one make a really good choice for groups that enjoy having lots of space inside.

Something we like about shelter tents is, that the walls of the tent are basically vertical creating a spacious interior, this gives you plenty of headroom at the sides inside, making it feel much larger than a dome tent, they also, tend to have large sleeping areas, making them great for groups. In general cabin tents will be used by people going on a camping trip in a car or a truck as they are quite heavy when compared to dome tents. This dose though make them better suited to colder nights. Many shelter tents contain more than a single room, similar to the Big Agnes Sugarloaf Camp two-room tent

Beneath you can check out a list of the tent's strongest and weakest points.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Sugarloaf Camp can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Lots of Headroom. With 6% more headroom than similar-sized tents, one can easily count this as a plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is good to see Big Agnes has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your things.
  4. Has awnings. The awnings shelter the walls of the tent.
  5. More than one room. The Sugarloaf Camp is designed with two rooms, allowing for more privacy. Ideal for a large family and groups who do not want to be all sleeping together.
  6. Removable divider. For those who want to maximize all of the available space that the Sugarloaf Camp provides, the divider can be removed to have one large room for everyone to share.
  7. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is simpler to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  8. More than one window. With 4 openings it is simple to keep the tent cooler on a hot summers night.
  9. Breathable. The Sugarloaf Camp's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the warmer months.

CONS

  1. Vulnerable to wind. Because of its size and shape, the Sugarloaf Camp may not do well in strong winds if it is not firmly secured with the provided guy lines and stakes. Even though the tent is listed as freestanding in all but very calm conditions, one would want to stake and tie it down correctly.
  2. Not spacious. With a floor area of 100 square feet, the Sugarloaf Camp 6 is smaller than quite a few of the 114 other 6 person tents we have looked at.
  3. No Vestibules. If you want to keep your dirty shoes, clothes, and backpacks protected from the rain etc, you need keep them inside the tent.
  4. Rainfly does not wholly cover the tent body. The rainfly only covers the ceiling and part of the tent body from the top. Meaning it may not protect against heavy rain.
  5. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, The floor may be made of tough fabric but it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, more so on rough terrain.
  6. Out of Stock. Unfortunately this particular tent is not currently in stock. It is still on the manufactures site the last time we looked.
