Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Campers who experienced using it said that: It was an OK tent. One of the main concerns is that setting up for beginners would be tricky because of the interior poles. An improvement is also needed for its walls because it would not stand against high humidity place.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Bombshelter 4 has two doors and a maximum center height of 3' 8, which is 17 inches less than the average height of the 160 various 4 person tents we have studied. With 50 square feet of room inside, it is considerably smaller than some other 4-person tents, and it would be quite tight for you and, up to three other campers all through the 4-seasons, this tent is recommended for use in, smaller tents similar to this one make a superb choice for campers who like spending lots of hours outside of the tent enjoying the fresh air.

Many of the cool points about dome tents are, that they are generally speaking light, making them easy to carry around. In nearly all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are usually, freestanding and very straightforward to set up. In calm weather, you could do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are easily the most commonly seen of all the different types of tents you will find when camping. They tend to do better in the rain than other types, allowing rain to roll off the sloped walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, allowing the water to pool on the roof. The simplest dome tent should have a rectangular footprint, sloped sides two or more poles which converge in the middle of the roof. Due to their construction, it is usually thought of that they are ideal for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Down below, you can find an account of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Bombshelter can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the floor with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Affords you somewhere to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is good to see Black Diamond has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your gear.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is simpler to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.

CONS

  1. Not roomy. With a floor area of 50 square feet, the Bombshelter 4 is smaller than quite a few of the 161 other 4 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 17% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative thing for some campers.
  3. No windows. With no windows it is not simple to keep the tent ventilated on a hot summers night.
  4. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one sold separately specifically for the Bombshelter 4 footprint Even though the floor may be made of ToddTex Fabric, it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  5. Out of Stock. Unfortunately this particular tent is not currently in stock. It is still on the manufactures site the last time we looked.
  6. A little heavy for backpacking. Even though the Bombshelter 4, looks like a small tent, it is not ideal for backpacking as it weighs 9 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  7. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have heaps of qualities to rave about. The sloping sides do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

4.3 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.3 STARS

Here are a few other cool things not mentioned above which, were noticed and liked, while reviewing the model: Exceptionally stable in windy conditions, Four interior poles intersect seven times for maximum strength and Waterproof and breathable laminate material..

With wonderful ratings, a couple of reviews and a peak height of 3' and 50 square feet of area to sleep, this tent is like your own small home away from home. It will allow you and up to 2 other friends to enjoy some real quality time enjoying nature. We found a decent amount of positive points about the tent that you can study above.

If you came to this page looking for an endorsement about this specific tent, we think, it would make for a good acquisition. In case you simply happened to land on this page while browsing for a new tent having never heard of this manufacture or this model previously, it is probably a good idea to look at a few other comparable tents also.

Value for money: When thinking about value for money, this tent is significantly costlier than the average price point of all the one hundred and sixty, four-person tents we have looked at, all alone this is not a negative thing. One should also look at other areas in detail, as we do for every tent.

When we calculate the score of an individual tent, we study tons of things, looking for areas where the tent could exceed other comparable tents and where it is not quite as good. In this case, with a total rating of 4.3 and the price conclusions above, It is simple enough to recognize that with a cost of $1299.95 The Bombshelter 4 is a good deal although it could be perceived as quite pricey when set side by side with comparable tents.

The overall score shows that the quality and size the tent gives you make it a suitable buy for campers searching for a tent that will be used for many years. It could make an ok choice for most people looking for a comfortable four-season dome tent to camp in, that will serve you well for years to come.
