Summary: Favorable Reviews

Some campers who used the tent said: Tent is super easy to set up with two people and had zero problems with moisture. It kept me dry during rain. The materials used are obviously durable just by looking at it. There are plenty of storage compartments inside, and it is easy to fold back up and put into its storage bag. Satisfied with the purchase I made.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

People who experienced using the tent said: First time setting it up took me over half an hour. You will need assistance to those who have experience setting up. Rainproof abilities is poor. During a heavy rainstorm, The rain was driving sideways. It would be even better if they provided one more clip point on both sides halfway up the tent wall and a footprint.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Dark Timber 4 has one window and two doors and a peak center height of 7' 8, which is 31 inches more than the average height of the 152 various 4 person tents we have studied. With 69 square feet of room inside, it is a little bit larger than some other 4-person tents, and it should accommodate you and, up to three other campers all through the 3-seasons, this tent is recommended for use in, smaller tents like this one generally make a superb choice for campers who appreciate spending loads of time outside exploring the great outdoors.

One of the awesome One of the sweet things about cabin tents is, that the walls of the tent are near vertical creating a larger interior, this makes for plenty of headroom at the sides of the tent, making it feel much bigger than other types of tents, most of the time, they tend to have large floor areas, so they are great for larger groups. In general cabin tents most often used by groups going on a camping trip in a car or a truck as they are quite heavy when compared to dome tents. It dose though make them well suited to colder nights.

Below you can browse a list of the tent's strongest and weakest points.

PROS

  1. Tons of space. With a center height of 92 inches (more than 6 feet) and a floor area of 69 square feet, the Dark Timber gives you a lot of space. Most adults can stand inside the tent without ducking their heads.
  2. Lots of Headroom. With 31% more headroom than similar-sized tents, one can easily count this as a plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is nice to see Nemo Equipment has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your gear.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is easier to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 150D PU Polyester Ripstop, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to rips and punctures. Also, the material has a 3000 mm waterproofing rating, which is pretty good for most circumstances.

CONS

  1. No Vestibules. If you want to keep your dirty shoes, clothes, and backpacks protected from the elements, you will have to keep them inside the tent.
  2. Rainfly does not wholly cover the tent body. The rainfly only covers the ceiling and part of the tent body from the top. Meaning it may not protect against heavy downpours.
  3. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, The floor may be made of 150D PU Polyester Ripstop but it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, more so on rough terrain.
  4. Discontinued: Unfortunately this particular tent has been discontinued on the manufactures website and is not available elsewhere, that we know of.
  5. A little heavy for backpacking. Even though the Dark Timber 4, looks like a small tent, it is not probably the best choice for backpacking as it weighs 17 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents

CONCLUSION

4.5 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.5 STARS

Nemo Equipment's Dark Timber 4 tent is suitable for car camping. There are a couple of other things not noted above which, we found and liked, while reviewing the model: Overhanging roof and waterproof walls protect against wind and rain, Breathable inner tent ceiling plus mesh doors and windows keep fresh air circulating and Light pockets and lantern loops give you plenty of options for nighttime illumination.

With positive ratings, a couple of reviews and a minimum headroom of 7' and 69 square feet of space to enjoy, this tent is like your very own miniature flat. This will enable you together with 3 other campers to share some really enjoyable time in the outdoors together. We found a decent amount of positive points about the tent that you can read through above.

If you found this page looking for suggestions about this specific tent, our view is, it will make for a very good acquisition. In case you simply happened to arrive on this page while looking for a brand new tent having never heard of this manufacture or this tent previously, it is perhaps a good idea to check out a few other similar tents also.

Value for money: As far as value for money, this tent is a wee bit more pricier than the normal cost of all the one hundred and fifty-two, four-person tents we have taken a look at, this itself is not a negative thing. One should also take a look at other things in-depth, as we do with every tent.

When we measure the valuation of a single tent, we examine plenty of areas, finding things where the tent could outshine other very similar tents and where it is coming up short. On this occasion, with a total rating of 4.5 and the price details above, It is simple enough to recognize that with a ticket price of $499.95 The Dark Timber 4 is a good bargain although it could be considered quite costly when set side by side with comparable tents.

Its overall score shows that the quality and capacity the tent gives you make it a decent choice for people looking for a tent that can be used for many years. It will make a decent choice for most people searching for an adequate three-season cabin tent to camp with, that should serve you well for years to come.
