PROS

1. Freestanding. The Mission can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not even have to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Gives you somewhere to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a big plus.
3. Has Gear Loft. It is good to see Black Diamond adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
4. More than one room. The Mission comes with two rooms, allowing for more privacy. Perfect for a large family and groups who do not want to be all sleeping together.
5. Removable divider. For those who would like to maximize all of the available space that the Mission provides, the divider can be removed to have one large room for everyone to share.
6. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is simpler to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
7. Other sizes are available. Black Diamond has also made this model available in Other Sizes.

CONS

1. Not spacious. With a floor area of 58 square feet, the Mission 4 is smaller than quite a lot of the 161 other 4 person tents we have looked at.
2. Lacking in Headroom. With 11% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative factor for some campers.
3. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, The floor may be made of 30d high tenacity polyester but it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
4. Out of Stock. Unfortunately this particular tent is not currently in stock. It is still on the manufactures site the last time we looked.
5. A tad heavy for backpacking. Even though the Mission 4, looks like a small tent, it is not probably the best choice for backpacking as it weighs 12 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
