Tent Set Up

One-door design sets up lightning fast

Summary: Favorable Reviews

Weight and size are good for backpacking trips. This tent provides good value for its cost. Set up and tear down are simple to do, not a hassle. Has a vestibule for extra storage space.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Some buyers were not happy with the design of the vestibule. The floor is not a bathtub-type, so it may leak in the middle seam. Some also report the rainfly tearing on the first use.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Suma 2 has one door and a maximum center height of 3' 6, which is a little bit smaller than the average height of the 220 other 2 person tents we have examined With 31 square feet of room inside, it is considerably smaller than some other 2-person tents, and it would be quite cramped for you and, another camper throughout the 3-seasons, this tent is approved for use in, smaller tents similar to this one make a nice choice for people who like spending heaps of hours outside exploring the great outdoors.

Some of the great points about dome tents are, that they are generally speaking not too heavy, making them easy to carry. In near all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very simple to set up. In calm weather, you could do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is suggested.

Dome tents are easily the most common of all the various sorts of tents you will see when camping. They tend to do better in the rain than other types, allowing water to roll off the slanted walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, resulting in the rain pooling on the top. The most straightforward dome tent should have a square floor, sloped sides a couple of poles which converge in the center of the roof. Due to their construction, it is generally thought of that they are best suited for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Beneath you can find an account of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Suma can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the floor with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibule. Having one vestibule. Affords you somewhere to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a big plus.
  3. Has Gear Loft. It is good to see Eureka adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  4. Breathable. The Suma's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the summer.
  5. Available in other sizes. Eureka has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  6. Low price. It is a great purchase for a 2 person dome tent that provides this much space. Not many tents available on the market provide this level of quality for only $135.73 info_outline

CONS

  1. Not spacious. With a floor area of 31 square feet, the Suma 2 is smaller than quite a few of the 220 other 2 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 8% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative thing for some campers.
  3. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one available separately specifically for the Suma 2 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 68D 185T Polyester taffeta, it is still better to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  4. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have many attributes to rave about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.
