Summary: Favorable Reviews

Campers who purchased the tent mentioned: It was easy to set up taking about 15 mins even on their very first try with a 15 mph wind. The inside is roomy, and the material quality is excellent. Awesome tent overall. There is a considerable amount of room for family camping and a vast rain fly that completely covers the tent. The waterproofing was totally amazing. The vents worked well, and the tent was comfortable in all conditions. The poles are very sturdy, and the guy-lines were sufficient to withstand moderate winds with no problem.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Campers who bought the tent noted: One of the cons with this tent was that the stakes included were just enough for the tent and the rain fly alone. Additional stakes are needed when using the offset side guy lines. It was extremely windy and rainy, and the weather demolished the tent. All poles were bent severely, and the tent collapsed in on us. When we took the tent apart, the poles were curved. We also got two rips in the tent, and it leaked a lot of water. All aspects of the tent were great except for the rainfly stitching and fabric, where the tensioning straps are joined to the walls. In three days, the fabric tore at the two attachments points for the vestibule.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Limestone 6 has two doors and a maximum center height of 6' 4, which is a little bit smaller than the average height of the 107 various 6 person tents we have examined With 83 square feet of space inside, it is a lot smaller than some other 6-person tents, and it would be quite tight for you and, up to five other campers all through the 3-seasons, this tent is recommended for use in, smaller tents similar to this one are a superb choice for people who enjoy spending heaps of hours outside of their tent exploring.

Many of the great things about dome tents are, that they are for, the most part not too heavy, making them simple to carry around. In most all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very straightforward to set up. In good weather, you can do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is suggested.

Dome tents are the most common of all the other sorts of tents you will find when camping. They tend to do better in the rain than other types, allowing rain to roll off the slanted sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, allowing the water to pool on the top. The most straightforward dome tent will have a rectangular floor, slanted sides a couple of poles which converge in the center of the roof. Due to the way they are made, it is usually considered that they are ideal for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Beneath you can see a list of the tent's strongest and weakest points.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Limestone can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Offers you a place to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a big plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is good to see Marmot has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your stuff.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is easier to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 150D 100% Polyester Oxford W/R F/R, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to rips and punctures. Also, the material has a 3000 mm waterproofing rating, which is pretty good for most circumstances.
  6. Breathable. The Limestone's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the warmer months.
  7. Available in other sizes. Marmot has also made this model available in Other Sizes.

CONS

  1. Susceptible to wind. Because of its size and shape, the Limestone may not do best in strong winds if it is not firmly secured with the provided guy lines and stakes. Even though the tent is listed as freestanding in all but very calm conditions, one would want to stake and tie it down correctly.
  2. Not roomy. With a floor area of 83 square feet, the Limestone 6 is smaller than quite a lot of the 107 other 6 person tents we have looked at.
  3. No windows. With no windows it is not simple to keep the tent cool on a hot summers night.
  4. Only one room. The Limestone is designed for 6 people, some other tents of a similar size have more than one room allowing for a little more privacy.
  5. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one sold separately designed for the Limestone 6 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 150D 100% Polyester Oxford W/R F/R, it is still better to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  6. Unfavorable Ratings. Unfortunatly the Limestone 6 has some of the worst ratings of all tents on optimumtents.com
  7. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have many attributes to be positive about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.
