Summary: Favorable Reviews

Great tent. It's really light for its size and toughness. It's really comfortable inside. I love that it has two doors. Vestibule size is also awesome. It can fit lots of gear inside.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

The downside? Condensation! There was no way of getting rid of the condensation, even having the tent doors open. We were on an expedition with my friends using a low budget 4-season tent (Tasmanian), and they had no condensation while we had a lot. Please add vents to the fly.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Remote 2 has two doors and a peak center height of 3' 8, which is a tiny bit less than the average height of the 222 various 2 person tents we have examined With 33 square feet of room inside, it is a tiny bit smaller than some other 2-person tents, and it could be a little tight for you and, another camper all through the 4-seasons, this tent is suggested for use in, smaller tents like this one are a nice choice for people that enjoy spending heaps of time outside of their tent exploring.

Many of the cool things about dome tents are, that they are generally speaking not too heavy, making them easy to carry. In nearly all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are usually, freestanding and very simple to set up. In good weather, you can do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is suggested.

Dome tents are easily the most common of all the various types of tents you will find when camping. They tend to fair better in bad weather than other types, allowing rain to roll off the slanted walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, allowing the water to pool on the roof. The most straightforward dome tent should have a square floor, slanted sides two or more poles which cross in the center of the roof. Due to the way they are made, it is typically thought of that they are ideal for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Below you can find an account of the tent's strongest and weakest points.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Remote can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Affords you somewhere to store shoes and other things that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is nice to see MSR has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your gear.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is easier to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 40D ripstop nylon Durashield polyurethane & DWR, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to tears and punctures. Also, the material has a 10000 mm waterproofing rating, which is pretty good for most circumstances.
  6. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the whole body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1500mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy rain.
  7. Available in other sizes. MSR has also made this model available in Other Sizes.

CONS

  1. Not roomy. With a floor area of 33 square feet, the Remote 2 is smaller than quite a few of the 222 other 2 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 6% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative thing for some campers.
  3. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one sold separately specifically for the Remote 2 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 40D ripstop nylon Durashield polyurethane & DWR, it is still better to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  4. A little heavy for backpacking. Even though the Remote 2, looks like a small tent, it is not probably the best choice for backpacking as it weighs 6 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  5. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have lots of qualities to rave about. The sloping sides do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

Our Ratings: 4.6 STARS

MSR's Remote 2 tent is great for base camp and expeditions. There are a few other nice points not mentioned above which, we found and liked, while reviewing the model: Built to withstand fierce winds and heavy snow loads, with its spacious interior and gear-harboring vestibule, the Remote tent becomes a secure haven when you are hunkered down on the side of a mountain and new rainfly vents reduce condensation.

With superb ratings, and a minimum headroom of 3' and 33 square feet of space to play with, this tent is like your own modest home away from home. It will enable you to enjoy some really enjoyable moments camping. We found a decent amount of pros about the tent that you can study above.

In case you simply happened to land on this website while browsing for a new tent having not heard of this brand or this model previously, it is possibly a good idea to check out some other similar tents also.

Value for money: In terms of value for your dollar, this tent is a more costly than the standard cost of all the two hundred and eighty-seven, two-person tents we have looked at, this itself is not a negative thing. We also need to look at other factors in-depth, as we do for each tent.

When we determine the overall score of a tent, we regard a good deal of conditions, looking for things where the tent could outperform other near-identical tents and where it is not quite as good. In this case, with a total score of 4.6 and the price data above, one can identify that with a cost of $645.68 info_outline MSR's Remote 2 is a superb deal even though it may be thought of as quite pricey when compared with similar tents.

Its overall score shows that the build and size the tent provides make it an excellent buy for people looking for a tent that will be used for many years.
