Summary: Favorable Reviews

This tent is packed in it's own bag with pull straps to condense it down for easier carrying. There is a separate bag for the rods and a smaller third bag for the stakes. All of which is placed in yet a larger bag that holds everything.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Some people who bought the tent said: It may not hold up pretty well under extreme conditions like a rainstorm or heavy winds. I wish also there was a way to avoid seam sealing the tent. Several external seams need to be sealed. Plus, they could have included a way to set it up without the vestibule .

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Moki 3 has one window and two doors and a peak center height of 4' 0, which is a little bit less than the average height of the 160 different 3 person tents we have examined With 43 square feet of space inside, it is a tiny bit smaller than some other 3-person tents, and it could be a little cramped for you and, up to two other campers during the whole of the 4-seasons, this tent is suggested for use in, smaller tents similar to this one often can make a really nice choice for people who prefer spending loads of hours outside the tent exploring.

Some of the great points about dome tents are, that they are generally speaking not too heavy, making them simple to carry. In nearly all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very simple to set up. In good weather, you could do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is suggested.

Dome tents are the most common of all the other types of tents you will find when camping. They tend to fair better in storms than other types, allowing water to roll off the slanted sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, resulting in the water pooling on the roof. The most straightforward dome tent should have a square floor, sloped walls two or more poles which cross in the middle of the roof. Because of the way they are made, it is generally considered that they are best suited for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Down below, you can find a list of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Moki can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Gives you somewhere to store shoes and other things that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
  3. Has Gear Loft. It is good to see Nemo Equipment adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is easier to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.

CONS

  1. Not roomy. With a floor area of 43 square feet, the Moki 3 is smaller than quite a few of the 165 other 3 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one available separately designed for the Moki 3 footprint Even though the floor may be made of Coated nylon, it is still better to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  3. Discontinued: Unfortunately this particular tent has been discontinued on the manufactures site and is no longer available elsewhere, that we know of.
  4. Not the best Ratings. Unfortunatly the Moki 3 has some of the worst ratings of all tents on optimumtents.com
  5. A tad heavy for backpacking. Even though the Moki 3, looks like a small tent, it is not ideal for backpacking as it weighs 10 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  6. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have many qualities to rave about. The sloping sides do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

3.4 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 3.4 STARS

Nemo Equipment's Moki 3 tent is suitable for base camp and expeditions. There are a couple of other things not already mentioned above which, we noticed and liked, while reviewing the model: The smartly designed vestibule allows 2 Mokis to connect together, Side windows can be used as emergency egresses as they open wide enough to easily get in and out of the tent and Reflective guyouts are illuminated in a headlamp's light.

With ok ratings, a few reviews and a center height of 4' and 43 square feet of area to sleep, this tent is like your very own modest home away from home. It will allow you to enjoy some delightful moments in the outdoors. We found a decent amount of positive points about the tent that you can study above.

If you came to this page looking for suggestions about this particular tent, we consider, it would make for a decent acquisition. In case you simply happened to arrive on this page while looking for a new tent having not heard of this brand or this model previously, it is perhaps a good thing to check out a few other similar tents.

Value for money: In terms of value for your money, this tent is significantly more costly than the average price of all the one hundred and sixty, three-person tents we have studied, this alone is not a negative thing. One should also take into account other things in-depth, as we do for each tent.

When we tally up the ratings of a tent, we examine a lot of stuff, looking for points where the tent could outshine other very similar tents and where it is coming up short. On this occasion, with an overall score of 3.4 and the price statistics above, we can see that with a ticket price of $849.95 Nemo Equipment's Moki 3 is a decent purchase even though it could be perceived as very pricey when compared with similar tents.

Its ratings show that the build and size the tent gives you make it a worthy buy for campers wanting a tent that will last for a few years. It could make an ok choice for nearly all people looking for a comfy four-season dome tent to camp in, that should serve you well.
