Summary: Favorable Reviews

People who bought the tent said: its easy to set up and at the same time, lightweight like what was advertised. It got awesome things inside: pockets, places to hang a light, plus the two gear storages above.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Campers who have camped with the tent mentioned that: It stands poorly in rain and wind conditions. If it is cold outside, you'll feel it very well. If the wind is strong, the outer tent gets pressed onto the inner. The condensation leaks through the mesh.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Zoic 4 has two doors and a peak center height of 4' 2, which is 11 inches less than the average height of the 152 other 4 person tents we have studied. With 56 square feet of space inside, it is a lot smaller than some other 4-person tents, and it would be quite tight for you and, up to three other campers all through the 3-seasons, this tent is approved for use in, smaller tents like this one generally make a really good choice for people who prefer spending plenty of hours outside of their tent exploring.

Many of the great things about dome tents are, that they are for, the most part light, making them easy to carry around. In most all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are usually, freestanding and very easy to set up. In good weather, you could do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is suggested.

Dome tents are without a doubt the most commonly seen of all the other types of tents you will see when camping. They tend to do better in bad weather than other types, allowing water to roll off the slanted sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, allowing the water to pool on the top. The most straightforward dome tent will have a rectangular footprint, slanted sides a couple of poles which cross in the center of the roof. Due to the way they are made, it is generally considered that they are best for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Below you can see an account of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Zoic can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not even have to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the floor with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibule. Having one vestibule. Affords you a place to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a big plus.
  3. Has Gear Loft. It is good to see MSR adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is easier to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 70D taffeta nylon Xtreme Shield polyurethane & DWR, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to tears and punctures. Also, the material has a 3000 mm waterproofing rating, which is very good for most circumstances.
  6. Includes FootPrint. It is not often we see a footprint included with a tent. It is strongly suggested to always use a footprint, so not having to buy one is a plus.
  7. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the whole body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1500mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy downpours.
  8. Available in other sizes. MSR has also made this model available in Other Sizes.

CONS

  1. Not roomy. With a floor area of 56 square feet, the Zoic 4 is smaller than quite a few of the 153 other 4 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 11% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative thing for some campers.
  3. No windows. With no windows it is not easy to keep the tent cool on a hot summers night.
  4. A tad heavy for backpacking. Even though the Zoic 4, looks like a small tent, it is not probably the best choice for backpacking as it weighs 7 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  5. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have many qualities to be positive about. The sloping sides do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

4.4 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.4 STARS

MSR's Zoic 4 tent is ideal for bicycle & motorbike camping. There are a few other nice points not already mentioned above which, we found and liked, while researching the model: Full micromesh canopy for optimal breathability, moisture control, views and bug-free protection, with minimal weight, A wide floor plan and steep sidewalls create a roomy interior and Proven MSR design geometry is matched with light, strong aluminum poles and long-lasting Xtreme Shield waterproof coating..

With wonderful ratings, a couple of reviews and headroom of 4' and 56 square feet of area to sleep, this tent is like your very own small home away from home. This allows you and up to 2 other friends to enjoy some delightful moments in the outdoors together. We found a decent amount of pros about the tent that you can read through above.

If you came to this website looking for suggestions about this actual tent, we think, it should make for a good buy. If you just happened to arrive on this page while looking for a brand new tent having not heard of this brand or this tent model previously, it is probably a good idea to look at some more similar tents also.

Value for money: When thinking about value for your money, this tent is wee bit cheaper than the normal price point of all the one hundred and fifty-two, four-person tents we have looked at, this itself does not make it good value for money. We also need to think about other things in detail, as we do for each tent.

When we determine the score of a single tent, we reflect upon tons of things, looking for things where the tent could perform well against other near-identical tents and where it is lacking. On this occasion, with a total rating of 4.4 and the price statistics above, we can identify that with a cost of $449.95 The Zoic 4 is a very good buy and cheap when compared with comparable tents.

Its ratings show that the quality and dimensions the tent provides were not compromised to obtain a price tag unquestionably beneath the normal price for similar tents. It should make a very good choice for nearly all people looking for an appropriate three-season dome tent to camp in, that will serve you well for years to come.
