Summary: Favorable Reviews

People who used the tent said: Setting up this tent is simple. With the two stnadardhiking poles, the procedure was simple and fast. I like how the pop-up vents and full mesh walls helped keep the interior cool and cozy. Also, it is inexpensive and provides outstanding value for the money.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Some Campers who used the tent said: A few of the zippers were quickly breaking or becoming caught. For a 6 footer, it uncomfortable to sit up or move around inside the tent. Moreover, the stakes are a little lightweight and insufficiently sturdy to support the tent in extremely windy situations. Yet, the cost is fair and is still respectable for tents of this size.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Hex 2 has two doors and a maximum center height of 3' 9, which is a tiny bit smaller than the average height of the 243 various 2 person tents we have studied. With 33 square feet of space inside, it is a little bit smaller than some other 2-person tents, and it could be a little cramped for you and, another camper throughout the 3-seasons, this tent is approved for use in, smaller tents like this one often make a suitable choice for campers that prefer spending loads of hours outside exploring the great outdoors.

Many of the cool things about a-frame tents are, that they are under normal circumstances not too heavy, making them simple to carry. In nearly all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the a-frame type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very easy to set up. In good weather, you could do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is suggested.

A-Frame tents are the most commonly seen of all the other types of tents you will see when camping. They tend to do better in bad weather than other types, allowing rain to roll off the sloped sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, allowing the water to pool on the roof. The most basic a-frame tent will have a square footprint, slanted walls two or more poles which converge in the center of the roof. Because of their construction, it is generally thought of that they are ideal for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Down below, you can check out an account of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Hex can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Gives you a place to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a big plus.
  3. Has Gear Loft. It is nice to see Alps Mountaineering adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is simpler to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 20D 380T nylon ripstop, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to tears and punctures. Also, the material has a 3000 mm waterproofing rating, which is pretty good for most circumstances.
  6. Breathable. The Hex's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the summer.
  7. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the entire body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 2000mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy rain.
  8. Low price. It is a great deal for a 2 person a-frame tent providing this much room. Not a lot of tents available on the market give this level of quality for only $249.99 info_outline

CONS

  1. Not spacious. With a floor area of 33 square feet, the Hex 2 is smaller than quite a lot of the 254 other 2 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one available separately specifically for the Hex 2 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 20D 380T nylon ripstop, it is still better to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
