PROS

1. Freestanding. The Aspenglen Instant can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
2. Internal storage. It is good to see Coleman has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your things.
3. More than one window. With 2 openings it is simple to keep the tent cooler on a hot summers night.
4. Other sizes are available. Coleman has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
5. Low price. It is a great deal for a 6 person dome tent that provides this much space. Not a lot of tents available on the market provide this level of quality for only $159.99

CONS

1. Susceptible to wind. Because of its size and shape, the Aspenglen may not do best in strong winds if it is not firmly secured with the provided guy lines and stakes. Even though the tent is listed as freestanding in all but very calm conditions, one would want to stake and tie it down correctly.
2. Not roomy. With a floor area of 90 square feet, the Aspenglen 6 is smaller than quite a few of the 124 other 6 person tents we have looked at.
3. Lacking in Headroom. With 11% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative thing for some people.
4. Only one room. The Aspenglen is suggested for 6 people, some other tents of a similar size have more than one room allowing for a little more privacy.
5. No Vestibules. If you want to keep your dirty shoes, clothes, and backpacks protected from the rain etc, you will have to keep them inside the tent.
6. Rainfly does not totally cover the tent body. The rainfly only covers the ceiling and part of the tent body from the top. Meaning it may not protect against heavy downpours.
7. Fiberglass poles. Poles constructed of fiberglass help to keep the price down, they do though tend to be not as strong. This is yet another reason to only use the Aspenglen in decent weather.
8. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, The floor may be made of PE (Polyethylene) tub style welded floor but it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
9. Discontinued: Unfortunately this particular tent has been discontinued on the manufactures site and is no longer available elsewhere, that we are aware of.
10. Unfavorable Ratings. Unfortunatly the Aspenglen 6 has some of the worst ratings of all tents on optimumtents.com
11. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have many qualities to be positive about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.
