SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Summer Pass 2 has two doors and a maximum center height of 3' 5, which is a tiny bit less than the average height of the 220 various 2 person tents we have examined With 29 square feet of room inside, it is a lot smaller than some other 2-person tents, and it would be quite cramped for you and, another camper throughout the 3-seasons, this tent is recommended for use in, smaller tents similar to this one can generally make a suitable choice for people who appreciate spending plenty of time outside exploring the great outdoors.

Many of the cool points about dome tents are, that they are for, the most part lightweight, making them easy to carry around. In nearly all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are usually, freestanding and very easy to set up. In calm weather, you can do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is suggested.

Dome tents are without a doubt the most commonly seen of all the various types of tents you will see when camping. They tend to fair better in bad weather than other types, allowing rain to easily slide off the sloped walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, resulting in the water pooling on the top. The most basic dome tent will have a square floor, slanted walls a couple of poles which converge in the center of the roof. Because of the way they are made, it is generally considered that they are best for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Below you can check out a list of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Summer Pass can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not even have to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the floor with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Affords you a place to store shoes and other things that can get dirty, muddy, this is a big plus.
  3. Has Gear Loft. It is nice to see Eureka adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is easier to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 68D 185T Polyester taffeta, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to rips and punctures. Also, the material has a 2000 mm waterproofing rating, which is pretty good for most circumstances.
  6. Includes FootPrint. It is not often we see a footprint included with a tent. It is suggested to always use a footprint, so not having to buy one is a plus.
  7. Breathable. The Summer Pass's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the summer.
  8. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the whole body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1500mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy downpours.
  9. Other sizes are available. Eureka has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  10. Low price. It is a great purchase for a 2 person dome tent providing this much space. Not many tents available on the market provide this level of quality for only $191.66 info_outline

CONS

  1. Not roomy. With a floor area of 29 square feet, the Summer Pass 2 is smaller than quite a lot of the 220 other 2 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 9% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative thing for some people.
  3. Not the best Ratings. Unfortunatly the Summer Pass 2 has some of the worst ratings of all tents on optimumtents.com
  4. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have heaps of qualities to rave about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

4.3 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.3 STARS

Eureka's Summer Pass 2 tent is great for backpacking. There are a few other nice points not already mentioned above which, we noticed and liked, while reviewing the model: Light, airy, and tough enough for any three-season backpacking adventure, Camp Comfort Sleep System compatible and High/Low Vent - Air Exchange System creates completely adjustable, easy to use ventilation options for all weather conditions.

With not the best ratings, a decent amount of reviews and a minimum headroom of 3' and 29 square feet of space to play with, this tent is like your very own modest studio. It enables you to spend some real quality moments camping. We found a decent amount of positive points about the tent that you can read through above.

If you came to this website looking for recommendations on this particular tent, we think, it will make for an ok buy. If you simply happened to land on this page while looking for a brand new tent having never heard of this manufacurer or this tent previously, it is perhaps a good thing to check out some more comparable tents.

Value for money: When thinking about value for your dollar, this tent is a lot cheaper than the usual price of all the two hundred and eighty-seven, two-person tents we have studied, this itself does not make it good value for money. One should also take a look at other things in detail, as we do for every tent.

When we measure the ratings of a single tent, we reflect upon tons of data points, looking for things where the tent could beat other near-identical tents and where it is lacking. In this case, with an overall rating of 4.3 and the price knowledge above, we can observe that with a price of $191.66 info_outline Eureka's Summer Pass 2 is an ok deal and fabulously priced in comparison with comparable tents.

The overall score shows that the build and size the tent offers may have been on a small scale skimped on to obtain a price well beneath the standard price for comparable tents. It should make a decent choice for nearly all campers searching for a comfy three-season backpacking tent to go camping in, that should serve you well.
