Summary: Favorable Reviews

A must-have tent, indeed. I love the pockets and the hooks because it is really convenient. Packing it also is a piece of cake. After using it once, I didn't have any hard time putting it back in its case.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Not 100 % wind-proof but versatile enough in a cold or warm condition. You might also notice that its a little bit heavy, it still gives you the worth of the money that you paid.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Meramac 2 has two windows and two doors and a peak center height of 4' 0, which is a little bit smaller than the average height of the 204 different 2 person tents we have studied. With 38 square feet of space inside, it is a little bit larger than some other 2-person tents, and it should accommodate you and, another camper during the 3-seasons, this tent is recommended for use in, smaller tents like this one can generally make a great choice for campers who prefer spending lots of hours outside their tent getting some air.

A few of the great points about dome tents are, that they are under normal circumstances light, making them easy to carry around. In nearly all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very simple to set up. In calm weather, you could do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are without a doubt the most common of all the different sorts of tents you will find when camping. They tend to do better in storms than other types, allowing rain to easily slide off the slanted walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, allowing the water to pool on the top. The most straightforward dome tent should have a square floor, sloped walls two or more poles which cross in the middle of the roof. Because of the way they are made, it is generally thought of that they are best suited for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Down below, you can find a list of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Meramac can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Has Gear Loft. It is nice to see Alps Mountaineering adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  3. Has awnings. The awnings shelter the sides of the tent.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is simpler to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. More than one window. With 2 windows it is simple to keep the tent cooler on a hot summers night.
  6. Breathable. The Meramac's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the warmer months.

CONS

  1. No Vestibules. If you want to keep your dirty shoes, clothes, and backpacks protected from the elements, you need store them inside the tent.
  2. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one sold separately specifically for the Meramac 2 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 75D 185T poly taffeta, it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  3. A little heavy for backpacking. Even though the Meramac 2, looks like a small tent, it is not ideal for backpacking as it weighs 7 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  4. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have lots of things to rave about. The sloping sides do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

Alps Mountaineering's Meramac 2 tent is great for bicycle & motorbike camping. There are a couple of other nice points not mentioned above which, were noticed and liked, while reviewing the model: Our fiberglass poles are also normally one size larger than normal to offer you a sturdier, stronger tent., Easy entry with two doors and single-zip operation and The fly uses a pole in the top, which gives you an awning over each door for excellent rain protection.

Value for money: In so much as value for your money, this tent is unquestionably more competitive than the average cost of all the two hundred and eighty-five, two-person tents we have taken a look at, all alone this does not make it awesome value for money. One should also look at other things in-depth, as we do with every tent.

When we determine the overall score of an individual tent, we study loads of areas, finding things where the tent could perform well against other near-identical tents and where it is not quite as good. On this occasion, with a total score of 5.0 and the price knowledge above, we can spot that with a price of $99.99 Alps Mountaineering's Meramac 2 is an exceptional deal and fabulously cheap in comparison with comparable tents.
