Tent Set Up

Easy two pole dome setup in minutes

Green Thumbs Up Logo

Summary: Favorable Reviews

Tent is well designed, from materials to construction. Thicker poles provide extra strength. Easy to set up. Can fit a queen sized air mattress and a small table with enough room to still walk around.

Teal Thumbs Down Logo

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Pole sleeves make the tent not so easy to set up. Floor material is thin and weak. Not good for 8 people. The fabric can easily break or tear.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Tetragon HD 8 has two windows and two doors and a peak center height of 6' 4, which is a little bit less than the average height of the 54 different 8 person tents we have studied. With 120 square feet of room inside, it is a lot smaller than some other 8-person tents, and it would be quite cramped for you and, up to seven other campers throughout the 3-seasons, this tent is approved for use in, larger tents similar to this one are a really good choice for people that appreciate having loads of space inside their tent.

Many of the great points about dome tents are, that they are for, the most part not too heavy, making them simple to carry. In nearly all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are usually, freestanding and very simple to set up. In calm weather, you could do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are without a doubt the most commonly seen of all the various types of tents you will see when camping. They tend to do better in bad weather than other types, allowing water to roll off the sloped walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, resulting in the water pooling on the top of the tent. The most straightforward dome tent should have a rectangular floor, sloped walls two or more poles which cross in the center of the roof. Because of their construction, it is typically considered that they are best for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Beneath you can find a list of the tent's strongest and weakest points.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Tetragon HD can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Has Gear Loft. It is good to see Eureka adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  3. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is simpler to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  4. More than one window. With 2 windows it is easier to keep the tent cool on a hot summers night.
  5. Tons of Positive Reviews The Tetragon HD 8 has Plenty of very good Reviews
  6. Available in other sizes. Eureka has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  7. Low price. It is a great deal for a 8 person dome tent that provides this much space. Not many tents available on the market provide this level of quality for only $259.95

CONS

  1. Susceptible to wind. Because of its size and shape, the Tetragon HD may not do well in strong winds if it is not firmly secured with the provided guy lines and stakes. Even though the tent is listed as freestanding in all but very calm conditions, one would need to stake and tie it down correctly.
  2. Not roomy. With a floor area of 120 square feet, the Tetragon HD 8 is smaller than quite a few of the 54 other 8 person tents we have looked at.
  3. Lacking in Headroom. With 6% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative thing for some people.
  4. Only one room. The Tetragon HD is designed for 8 campers, many other tents of a similar size have more than one room allowing for a little more privacy.
  5. No Vestibules. If you want to keep your dirty shoes, clothes, and backpacks protected from the elements, you must store them inside the tent.
  6. Rainfly does not wholly cover the tent body. The rainfly only covers the ceiling and part of the tent body from the top. Meaning it may not protect against heavy rain.
  7. Fiberglass poles. Poles constructed of fiberglass help to keep the price down, they do though tend to be not as strong. This is yet another reason to only use the Tetragon HD in decent weather.
  8. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, The floor may be made of 63D 190T Polyester taffeta but it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  9. Out of Stock. Unfortunately this particular tent is not currently in stock. It is still on the manufactures website the last time we looked.
  10. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have many qualities to be positive about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

4.1 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.1 STARS

Eureka's Tetragon HD 8 tent is ideal for car camping. Here are a couple of other points not already mentioned above which, were noticed and liked, while researching the model: This freestanding, two-pole dome architecture includes a fiberglass frame with clips and ring/pin corner assemblies to ensure fast, easy setup, Includes the exclusive E! Media Center in-tent entertainment hub for quiet time or rainy days, plus two storage pockets and a gear loft and Bathtub floor and fully seam taped construction keep water out.

With fantastic ratings, plenty of reviews and a peak height of 6' and 120 square feet of space to play with, this tent is like your very own little residence. This enables you and up to 6 other people to spend some real quality moments camping together. We found a decent amount of pros about the tent that you can check out above.

If you came to this page looking for suggestions on this actual tent, we consider, it will make for a very good buy. If you simply happened to arrive on this website while looking for a brand new tent having not heard of this manufacurer or this tent previously, it is possibly a good idea to look at a few other comparable tents also.

Value for money: In terms of value for money, this tent is significantly cheaper than the usual price of all the fifty-five, eight-person tents we have taken a look at, this itself does not make it awesome value for money. One should also look at other areas in-depth, as we do with every tent.

When we determine the score of a single tent, we reflect upon tons of stuff, looking for areas where the tent could shine against other very similar tents and where it is not quite as good. On this occasion, with a total score of 4.1 and the price knowledge above, one can observe that with a cost of $259.95 The Tetragon HD 8 is an exceptional buy and incredibly competitively priced when compared with similar tents.

Its ratings show that the quality and capacity the tent gives you were not in any way compromised to finish up with a price tag significantly below the usual price for similar tents. It should make a fantastic choice for nearly all campers searching for a comfortable three-season dome tent to go camping in, that will serve you well for years to come.
