Tent Set Up

Summary: Favorable Reviews

Campers who purchased the tent mentioned: This tent is a breeze to set up and takedown. I'm 6' plus in height and 280lbs, and I've never hit the sides with my head or feet. There is plenty of room in the tent, even when I had my son and wife with me, and all of our gear. Amazing tent! We got about three inches of rain but we stayed completely dry. Two inches of rain pooled under the floor of the tent, but not a drop came through. Ventilation is great.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Campers who bought the tent noted: Always connect the velcro loops between the rainfly and the polls. Otherwise, a small pool of water can form just above the rainfly door, and it will drain on your face when you exit the tent. It was a great tent. The only negative was the considerable amount of condensation on the underside of the vestibule fly.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Halo 4 2018 has two doors and a maximum center height of 4' 11, which is a tiny bit smaller than the average height of the 134 other 4 person tents we have studied. With 64 square feet of space inside, it is a tiny bit smaller than some other 4-person tents, and it could be a little tight for you and, up to three other campers all through the 3-seasons, this tent is approved for use in, smaller tents similar to this one can generally make a fantastic choice for campers that welcome spending lots of hours outside of their tent exploring.

A few of the cool things about dome tents are, that they are for, the most part lightweight, making them simple to carry. In most all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very straightforward to set up. In calm weather, you could do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are the most commonly seen of all the other types of tents you will find when camping. They tend to fair better in bad weather than other types, allowing rain to roll off the sloped sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, resulting in the rain pooling on the top. The most basic dome tent will have a rectangular footprint, sloped walls two or more poles which converge in the middle of the roof. Due to their construction, it is generally considered that they are best suited for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Down below, you can see an account of the tent's strongest and weakest points.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Halo 2018 can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Affords you somewhere to store shoes and other things that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is good to see Marmot has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your stuff.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is simpler to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 150d 100% Polyester Oxford, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to tears and punctures. Also, the material has a 3000 mm waterproofing rating, which is very good for most circumstances.
  6. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the entire body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1800mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy rain.
  7. Available in other sizes. Marmot has also made this model available in Other Sizes.

CONS

  1. Not spacious. With a floor area of 64 square feet, the Halo 4 is smaller than quite a lot of the 134 other 4 person tents we have looked at.
  2. No windows. With no windows it is not simple to keep the tent cool on a hot summers night.
  3. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one sold separately specifically for the Halo 4 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 150d 100% Polyester Oxford, it is still better to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  4. A tad heavy for backpacking. Even though the Halo 4, looks like a small tent, it is not probably the best choice for backpacking as it weighs 13 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  5. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have many qualities to be positive about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

4.9 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.9 STARS

Marmot's Halo 4 2018 tent is great for car camping. There are a few other cool things not already mentioned above which, were found and liked, while reviewing the model: Tons of livable space, thanks to its innvoative pole structure, An oversize double-door and side D-shaped door makes it easy for everyone to get in and out without creating a bottleneck and Ceiling and wall mesh panels and ground-level side vents allow good air circulation and offer views outside; rainfly vents lets moist air escape.

With great ratings, a few reviews and a minimum headroom of 4' and 64 square feet of space to enjoy, this tent is like your very own small apartment. This will enable you and up to 2 other campers to enjoy some delightful moments enjoying nature. We found a decent amount of positive points about the tent that you can look at above.

If you found this page looking for an endorsement about this actual tent, our view is, it would make for a good purchase. If you simply happened to arrive on this page while browsing for a new tent having never heard of this brand or this tent before, it is perhaps a good thing to look at a few other comparable tents.

Value for money: In so much as value for money, this tent is a tiny bit more costlier than the usual cost of all the one hundred and fifty-four, four-person tents we have looked at, all alone this is not a negative thing. We also need to take a look at other things in-depth, as we do with each tent.

When we calculate the overall score of a single tent, we study a good deal of areas, finding points where the tent could exceed other similar tents and where it is coming up short. On this occasion, with a total score of 4.9 and the price conclusions above, It is simple enough to see that with a ticket price of $405.13 info_outline Marmot's Halo 4 2018 is a very good buy even though it could be thought of as a tiny bit expensive when set side by side with similar tents.

Its ratings show that the quality and space the tent gives you make it a good buy for people searching for a tent that will last for lots of years. It should make an ok choice for most campers looking for an appropriate three-season dome tent to go camping in, that should serve you well for years to come.
