Tent Set Up

Very easy to set up and take down

Green Thumbs Up Logo

Summary: Favorable Reviews

Can be set up easily by one person. Well ventilated interior. Has storage pouches and a gear loft. Does not blow over in the wind, keeps the inside dry during heavy rains. Can even survive a storm.

Teal Thumbs Down Logo

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Rainfly tends to be difficult to attach. Windows in the latest version are smaller compared to the old version. Some observed that the tent fabric feels cheap and the rainfly is fragile.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Sunrise Ex 8 has four windows and one door and a maximum center height of 6' 2, which is a little bit less than the average height of the 54 different 8 person tents we have examined With 120 square feet of room inside, it is significantly smaller than some other 8-person tents, and it would be quite tight for you and, up to seven other campers during the 3-seasons, this tent is approved for use in, larger tents similar to this one make a really nice choice for campers who enjoy having heaps of space inside of their tent.

A few of the fantastic points about dome tents are, that they are under normal circumstances light, making them simple to carry. In near all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are usually, freestanding and very straightforward to set up. In calm weather, you could do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are easily the most common of all the different sorts of tents you will see when camping. They tend to do better in bad weather than other types, allowing rain to easily slide off the sloped sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, allowing the rain to pool on the top. The most straightforward dome tent should have a rectangular floor, slanted sides two or more poles which cross in the center of the roof. Because of the way they are made, it is usually considered that they are best suited for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Below you can see an account of the tent's strongest and weakest points.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Sunrise Ex can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Internal storage. It is good to see Eureka has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your gear.
  3. More than one window. With 4 openings it is simple to keep the tent cooler on a hot summers night.
  4. Other sizes are available. Eureka has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  5. Low price. It is a great buy for a 8 person dome tent that provides this much room. Not many tents available on the market give this level of quality for only $289.95

CONS

  1. Sensitive to wind. Because of its size and shape, the Sunrise Ex may not do best in strong winds if it is not firmly secured with the provided guy lines and stakes. Even though the tent is listed as freestanding in all but very calm conditions, one would need to stake and tie it down correctly.
  2. Not roomy. With a floor area of 120 square feet, the Sunrise Ex 8 is smaller than quite a lot of the 54 other 8 person tents we have looked at.
  3. Lacking in Headroom. With 8% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative factor for some campers.
  4. Only one room. The Sunrise Ex is suggested for 8 campers, many other tents of a similar size have more than one room allowing for a little more privacy.
  5. No Vestibules. If you want to keep your dirty shoes, clothes, and backpacks protected from the rain etc, you need store them inside the tent.
  6. Rainfly does not completely cover the tent body. The rainfly only covers the ceiling and part of the tent body from the top. Meaning it may not protect against heavy rain.
  7. Fiberglass poles. Poles constructed of fiberglass help to keep the price down, they do though tend to be not as strong. This is yet another reason to only use the Sunrise Ex in decent weather.
  8. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, The floor may be made of 63D 190T Polyester taffeta but it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  9. Out of Stock. Unfortunately this particular tent is not currently in stock. It is still on the manufactures site the last time we checked.
  10. Unfavorable Ratings. Unfortunatly the Sunrise Ex 8 has some of the worst ratings of all tents on optimumtents.com
  11. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have many things to be positive about. The sloping sides do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

4.3 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.3 STARS

Eureka's Sunrise Ex 8 tent is really good for car camping. Here are a couple of other things not noted above which, were noticed and liked, while researching the model: Windows on each wall provide 360 views., Bathtub floor and fully seam taped construction keep water out and Want power? Run an outdoor grade extension cord from campsite power into the tent through the E!Power Port. .

With inferior ratings, a few reviews and a peak height of 6' and 120 square feet of space to enjoy, this tent is like your very own modest mansion. This will allow you and up to 6 other people to enjoy some real quality time camping together. We found a decent amount of positive points about the tent that you can read through above.

If you found this page looking for recommendations on this specific tent, we consider, it will make for a decent purchase. If you simply happened to arrive on this website while browsing for a new tent having not heard of this brand or this model before, it is perhaps a good thing to look at some more comparable tents.

Value for money: When considering value for your dollar, this tent is unquestionably cheaper than the usual price of all the fifty-five, eight-person tents we have taken a look at, this alone does not make it remarkable value for money. One should also think about other things in-depth, as we do for every tent.

When we calculate the valuation of a tent, we examine a lot of stuff, finding areas where the tent could outshine other comparable tents and where it is lacking. On this occasion, with an overall rating of 4.3 and the price knowledge above, It is simple enough to see that with a cost of $289.95 The Sunrise Ex 8 is a decent buy and astonishingly priced when compared with comparable tents.

The ratings show that the quality and capacity the tent gives you could possibly have been lightly compromised to finish up with a price well below the standard price for similar tents. It will make a decent choice for nearly all campers searching for a comfortable three-season dome tent to go camping in, that will serve you well.
