Summary: Favorable Reviews

Campers who purchased the tent said: It is so light and roomy. Easily withstood some heavy rain and winds, without leaks. Both sizes comfortably accommodated 2 adults and a dog. Stays warm with the fly. Easy to put together and how light/small it packs down.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Bolt Ultralight 2 has one door and a maximum center height of 3' 6, which is a little bit smaller than the average height of the 204 other 2 person tents we have examined With 28 square feet of room inside, it is considerably smaller than some other 2-person tents, and it would be quite cramped for you and, another camper all through the 3-seasons, this tent is suggested for use in, smaller tents like this one can make an awesome choice for people that love spending lots of hours outside exploring the great outdoors.

A few of the cool things about dome tents are, that they are generally speaking lightweight, making them easy to carry. In near all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are usually, freestanding and very straightforward to set up. In good weather, you can do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is suggested.

Dome tents are without a doubt the most commonly seen of all the different types of tents you will find when camping. They tend to fair better in the rain than other types, allowing rain to easily slide off the slanted walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, resulting in the rain pooling on the top. The most straightforward dome tent should have a square floor, sloped sides two or more poles which cross in the center of the roof. Due to their construction, it is generally considered that they are ideal for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Below you can browse an account of the tent's strongest and weakest points.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Bolt Ultralight can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not even have to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the floor with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibule. Having one vestibule. Affords you a place to store shoes and other things that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is nice to see Marmot has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your stuff.
  4. Includes FootPrint. It is quite rare to see a footprint included with a tent. It is suggested to always use a footprint, so not having to pay extra for one is a plus.
  5. Breathable. The Bolt Ultralight's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the warmer months.
  6. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the whole body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1500mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy downpours.
  7. Available in other sizes. Marmot has also made this model available in Other Sizes.

CONS

  1. Not roomy. With a floor area of 28 square feet, the Bolt Ultralight 2 is smaller than quite a few of the 204 other 2 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 9% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative thing for some people.
  3. Out of Stock. Unfortunately this particular tent is not currently in stock. It is still on the manufactures site the last time we looked.
  4. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have lots of attributes to be positive about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

4.3 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.3 STARS

Marmot's Bolt Ultralight 2 tent is good for backpacking. Here are a couple of other nice points not already mentioned above which, we noticed and liked, while researching the model: Rain-Shield Polyester Flysheet Doesn't Stretch and Sag When Wet and Resists Damage from UV, Zone Pre-Bend Construction Creates Vertical Walls, More Roomy Sleeping Area and Greater Head Room and Lamp Shade Pocket Securely Holds Your Headlamp to Provide Ambient Light.

With great ratings, and a minimum headroom of 3' and 28 square feet of space for sleeping, this tent is like your own modest studio. This will enable you to enjoy some really enjoyable time hanging out with nature. We found a decent amount of positive points about the tent that you can look at above.

If you found this website looking for an endorsement about this actual tent, our view is, it should make for a good acquisition. If you just happened to land on this page while browsing for a new tent having never heard of this brand or this model before, it is possibly a good thing to check out some more comparable tents also.

Value for money: In so much as value for your dollar, this tent is wee bit more competitive than the usual price of all the two hundred and eighty-five, two-person tents we have taken a look at, this itself does not make it good value for money. We also need to think about other areas in-depth, as we do for each tent.

When we calculate the score of an individual tent, we regard tons of areas, searching for points where the tent could outshine other near-identical tents and where it is lacking. In this case, with a total score of 4.3 and the price info above, one can spot that with a price of $359.00 Marmot's Bolt Ultralight 2 is a good deal and reasonably priced in comparison with similar tents.

Its ratings show that the quality and size the tent gives you were not compromised to get a price tag significantly beneath the normal price for comparable tents. It will make a superb choice for most people searching for an adequate three-season backpacking tent to camp in, that will serve you well for years to come.
