Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Some campers who bought the tent said: The rain fly leaks around zippers and vent triangles a little. The poles and zippers are not that good in terms of quality. After setting it up, the poles snapped out, and the zippers felt a little cheap.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Morrison 2 has two doors and a maximum center height of 3' 7, which is a little bit smaller than the average height of the 229 various 2 person tents we have studied. With 35 square feet of room inside, it is a little bit larger than some other 2-person tents, and it should accommodate you and, another camper during the 3-seasons, this tent is approved for use in, smaller tents similar to this one can make an awesome choice for people that prefer spending loads of time outside of the tent enjoying the fresh air.

Many of the great things about dome tents are, that they are generally speaking not too heavy, making them simple to carry. In most all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are usually, freestanding and very straightforward to set up. In good weather, you can do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is suggested.

Dome tents are without a doubt the most common of all the various types of tents you will see when camping. They tend to do better in the rain than other types, allowing water to easily slide off the sloped walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, resulting in the rain pooling on the roof. The simplest dome tent will have a rectangular floor, slanted walls two or more poles which cross in the center of the roof. Due to their construction, it is generally thought of that they are best suited for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Beneath you can see an account of the tent's strongest and weakest points.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Morrison can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the floor with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Offers you somewhere to store shoes and other things that can get dirty, muddy, this is a big plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is nice to see Mountainsmith has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your things.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is simpler to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 190td Poly PU, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to tears and punctures. Also, the material has a 5000 mm waterproofing rating, which is very good for most circumstances.
  6. Tons of Positive Reviews The Morrison 2 has Tons of excellent Reviews
  7. Impressive Ratings The Morrison 2 has some of the best ratings of all the tents on optimumtents.com
  8. Available in other sizes. Mountainsmith has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  9. Low price. It is a great buy for a 2 person dome tent that provides this much room. Not many tents available on the market give this level of quality for only $98.97

CONS

  1. Lacking in Headroom. With 6% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative thing for some people.
  2. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one sold separately specifically for the Morrison 2 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 190td Poly PU, it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  3. Discontinued: Unfortunately this particular tent has been discontinued on the manufactures site and is not available elsewhere, that we are aware of.
  4. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have heaps of things to be positive about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.
