Summary: Favorable Reviews

People who bought the tent said: The tent is made from top quality materials. The tent and fly were very easy & quick to setup. The cost is reasonable compared to other tents. It has an excellent interior size and big doorways. During the rain, the tent floor and rain fly did not leak. The footprint also did a great job in keeping the bottom of the tent clean. Plus, the groundsheet and a gear loft are not sold separately, which made it a better deal than other tents.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Some campers who used this tent said: It was a nice tent, but some of its parts are not the best of quality. The zippers started to stick after a while. The poles used are good but started to bend after some use. Although there is a lot of ventilation without the rainfly, not using it would compromise privacy. Extra care should be taken, especially when using it in heavy rain.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Morrison 2 Evo has two doors and a peak center height of 3' 9, which is a tiny bit smaller than the average height of the 229 other 2 person tents we have studied. With 36 square feet of space inside, it is a tiny bit larger than some other 2-person tents, and it should accommodate you and, another camper during the whole of the 3-seasons, this tent is suggested for use in, smaller tents like this one can make a suitable choice for people who like spending heaps of time outside exploring the great outdoors.

Some of the great things about dome tents are, that they are for, the most part not too heavy, making them simple to carry around. In near all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very straightforward to set up. In good weather, you could do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is suggested.

Dome tents are without a doubt the most common of all the different types of tents you will see when camping. They tend to do better in the rain than other types, allowing rain to roll off the slanted sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, resulting in the rain pooling on the top. The simplest dome tent will have a square footprint, sloped sides a couple of poles which converge in the middle of the roof. Because of their construction, it is usually thought of that they are ideal for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Below you can see an account of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Morrison Evo can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the floor with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Affords you somewhere to store shoes and other things that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is nice to see Mountainsmith has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your stuff.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is easier to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 68D x 190td Poly F/R, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to rips and punctures. Also, the material has a 5000 mm waterproofing rating, which is pretty good for most circumstances.
  6. Includes FootPrint. It is quite rare to see a footprint included with a tent. It is suggested to always use a footprint, so not having to buy one is a plus.
  7. Excellent Ratings The Morrison 2 has some of the best ratings of all the tents on optimumtents.com
  8. Available in other sizes. Mountainsmith has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  9. Low price. It is a great buy for a 2 person dome tent that provides this much room. Not many tents available on the market give this level of quality for only $199.95 info_outline

CONS

  1. A tad heavy for backpacking. Even though the Morrison 2, looks like a small tent, it is not ideal for backpacking as it weighs 6 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  2. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have many attributes to rave about. The sloping sides do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.
