Summary: Favorable Reviews

People who bought the tent mentioned: That they are happy with how lightweight and compact it is. Easy to set up in minutes. Poles are sturdy and have excellent durability. Condensation: none at all or very small. Even with a completely closed entrance. The perfect tent for a multi-day ski mountaineering trip. It fits better than large tents in small flat areas. Recently used the Advance Pro 2 on rainier and was caught in 75mph sustained winds for approximately 6 hours. The tent was the only one still standing at the end of the night.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Campers who have used the tent said: Excellent but take care of the guy lines. It is a little cramped for two people, especially if both individuals are over six feet tall. They wish there was an additional vent, and wish there was an accessory vestibule.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Advance Pro 2 has one door and a peak center height of 3' 8, which is a tiny bit smaller than the average height of the 222 various 2 person tents we have examined With 24 square feet of space inside, it is a lot smaller than some other 2-person tents, and it would be quite tight for you and, another camper throughout the 4-seasons, this tent is recommended for use in, smaller tents like this one are an excellent choice for campers that prefer spending loads of hours outside the tent exploring.

A few of the great things about dome tents are, that they are for, the most part lightweight, making them simple to carry around. In most all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are usually, freestanding and very easy to set up. In calm weather, you can do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is suggested.

Dome tents are the most commonly seen of all the different types of tents you will see when camping. They tend to do better in the rain than other types, allowing water to easily slide off the slanted walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, resulting in the water pooling on the roof. The most basic dome tent will have a square floor, slanted walls two or more poles which converge in the center of the roof. Due to the way they are made, it is typically thought of that they are best for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Down below, you can browse an account of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Advance Pro can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Internal storage. It is nice to see MSR has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your gear.
  3. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 30D ripstop nylon, Xtreme Shield polyurethane & silicone, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to rips and punctures. Also, the material has a 3000 mm waterproofing rating, which is very good for most circumstances.
  4. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the entire body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1000mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy rain.

CONS

  1. Not roomy. With a floor area of 24 square feet, the Advance Pro 2 is smaller than quite a lot of the 222 other 2 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 6% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative factor for some campers.
  3. No Vestibules. If you want to keep your dirty shoes, clothes, and backpacks protected from the rain etc, you will have to keep them inside the tent.
  4. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one available separately designed for the Advance Pro 2 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 30D ripstop nylon, Xtreme Shield polyurethane & silicone, it is still better to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  5. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have heaps of things to rave about. The sloping sides do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.
  6. Storage Space. because of the size of the tent, one cannot store a lot of gear inside..

CONCLUSION

4.4 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.4 STARS

MSR's Advance Pro 2 tent is good for mountaineering and backpacking. There are a few other points not mentioned above which, were noticed and liked, while reviewing the model: It features an ultralight construction and a small footprint for easier pitching on high-altitude ledges, A unique pole sleeve allows the tent to be set up fast by one person standing in a single precarious spot and Extreme-condition protection at just 1.3 kg (2 lb. 14 oz.)..

With great ratings, and headroom of 3' and 24 square feet of area to sleep, this tent is like your very own small home away from home. This allows you to spend some real quality moments in the outdoors. We found a decent amount of positive points about the tent that you can read through above.

If you found this page looking for suggestions about this specific tent, we think, it should make for a good purchase. In case you just happened to arrive on this page while browsing for a brand new tent having not heard of this manufacurer or this model previously, it is possibly a good idea to check out a few more comparable tents.

Value for money: As far as value for your dollar, this tent is a more expensive than the usual price of all the two hundred and eighty-seven, two-person tents we have looked at, all alone this is not a negative thing. One should also take into account other areas in-depth, as we do for each tent.

When we tally up the valuation of a single tent, we consider tons of areas, searching for points where the tent could excel against other similar tents and where it is lacking. In this case, with an overall score of 4.4 and the price info above, one can notice that with a price of $559.73 MSR's Advance Pro 2 is a very good deal though it may be perceived as quite costly when set side by side with comparable tents.

Its overall score shows that the quality and capacity the tent gives you make it a worthy purchase for those looking for a tent that can last for many years. It is also worth thinking about the fact that it is discounted by 30% from the manufactures suggested retail price. It will make a decent choice for nearly all people looking for an adequate four-season backpacking tent to camp in, that will serve you well for years to come.
