Summary: Favorable Reviews

Some people who used the tent said: Camping experience was great with this tent. It is durable at the same time, waterproof. Works pretty well against minimal weather conditions. Plus, the pole quality is superb which made the tent very sturdy. It only took 5-10 minutes to set it up. Overall, it is a tent that I will bring over and over again for my camping trips.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Campers who used the tent said: It needs a bit of improvement. The outer and inner tents are very close, which resulted the dripping of water inside. Ventilation was fair. I just do not recommend using it during very cold or hot weather. It condesates much in the morning. I just hope that the door has mesh protection in it from the mosquitoes and other insects.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Hubba 2 Tour has two doors and a peak center height of 3' 2, which is 11 inches smaller than the average height of the 229 other 2 person tents we have examined With 32 square feet of room inside, it is a little bit smaller than some other 2-person tents, and it could be a little tight for you and, another camper during the whole of the 3-seasons, this tent is approved for use in, smaller tents similar to this one generally make a nice choice for people that welcome spending heaps of time outside the tent exploring.

Many of the fantastic points about dome tents are, that they are under normal circumstances light, making them easy to carry. In nearly all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very simple to set up. In calm weather, you can do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are without a doubt the most commonly seen of all the other sorts of tents you will see when camping. They tend to do better in storms than other types, allowing water to easily slide off the slanted walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, resulting in the water pooling on the top of the tent. The simplest dome tent should have a rectangular footprint, slanted walls a couple of poles which converge in the center of the roof. Due to their construction, it is generally thought of that they are best for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Beneath you can browse an account of the tent's strongest and weakest points.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Hubba Tour can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the floor with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibule. Having one vestibule. Gives you somewhere to store shoes and other things that can get dirty, muddy, this is a big plus.
  3. Has Gear Loft. It is good to see MSR adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is easier to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 30D ripstop nylon Durashield polyurethane & DWR, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to rips and punctures. Also, the material has a 10000 mm waterproofing rating, which is very good for most circumstances.
  6. If you are looking for this actual tent, you are in luck it has been discontinued on the manufactures website, but is still available elsewhere.
  7. Other sizes are available. MSR has also made this model available in Other Sizes.

CONS

  1. Not roomy. With a floor area of 32 square feet, the Hubba 2 is smaller than quite a few of the 240 other 2 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 11% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative factor for some people.
  3. Rainfly does not completely cover the tent body. The rainfly only covers the ceiling and part of the tent body from the top. Meaning it may not protect against heavy downpours.
  4. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one available separately designed for the Hubba 2 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 30D ripstop nylon Durashield polyurethane & DWR, it is still better to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  5. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have lots of attributes to be positive about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

4.6 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.6 STARS

MSR's Hubba 2 Tour tent is really good for backpacking. There are a couple of other things not noted above which, were found and liked, while reviewing the model: Exoskeleton frame and unified rainfly and body keep the tent body dry during setup in bad weather., The mesh vestibule door maintains a bug-free zone for ride preparations. and Multiple large pockets hold jackets and cycling gear, while a gear loft stores smaller items..

With very good ratings, a couple of reviews and a minimum headroom of 3' and 32 square feet of space to enjoy, this tent is like your own miniature studio. It will allow you to spend some real quality time camping. We found a decent amount of pros about the tent that you can check out above.

If you found this page looking for recommendations about this specific tent, our view is, it should make for an awesome purchase. In case you just happened to land on this page while browsing for a brand new tent having not heard of this brand or this tent model before, it is perhaps a good idea to check out some other similar tents.

Value for money: When contemplating value for money, this tent is wee bit more competitive than the average price of all the two hundred and twenty-nine, two-person tents we have taken a look at, this alone by itself does not make it good value for money. We also need to look at other areas in detail, as we do for every tent.

When we measure the ratings of a single tent, we study tons of conditions, finding areas where the tent could beat out other comparable tents and where it is not quite as good. In this case, with a total rating of 4.6 and the price details above, It is simple enough to view that with a price of $649.95 The Hubba 2 Tour is a very good deal and reasonably priced when compared with similar tents.

The ratings show that the build and size the tent provides were not in any way compromised to obtain a price tag well beneath the standard price for similar tents. It is also worth thinking about the fact that it is marked down by 0% from the manufactures suggested price. It will make a remarkable choice for nearly all campers looking for an appropriate three-season backpacking tent to go camping in, that will serve you well for years to come.
