Summary: Favorable Reviews

Some people who used the tent said: Camping experience was great with this tent. It is durable at the same time, waterproof. Works pretty well against minimal weather conditions. Plus, the pole quality is superb which made the tent very sturdy. It only took 5-10 minutes to set it up. Overall, it is a tent that I will bring over and over again for my camping trips.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Campers who used the tent said: It needs a bit of improvement. The outer and inner tents are very close, which resulted the dripping of water inside. Ventilation was fair. I just do not recommend using it during very cold or hot weather. It condesates much in the morning. I just hope that the door has mesh protection in it from the mosquitoes and other insects.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Hubba 3 Tour has two doors and a maximum center height of 3' 6, which is a little bit less than the average height of the 158 other 3 person tents we have examined With 43 square feet of space inside, it is a tiny bit smaller than some other 3-person tents, and it could be a little cramped for you and, up to two other campers during the whole of the 3-seasons, this tent is suggested for use in, smaller tents similar to this one often can make a very good choice for people that enjoy spending plenty of hours outside exploring the great outdoors.

Some of the fantastic things about dome tents are, that they are generally speaking lightweight, making them simple to carry. In nearly all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very straightforward to set up. In good weather, you can do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are without a doubt the most commonly seen of all the various types of tents you will see when camping. They tend to fair better in the rain than other types, allowing rain to easily slide off the slanted walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, allowing the rain to pool on the top of the tent. The simplest dome tent will have a square floor, sloped walls a couple of poles which converge in the center of the roof. Because of the way they are made, it is generally considered that they are best for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Hubba Tour can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibule. Having one vestibule. Affords you somewhere to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
  3. Has Gear Loft. It is good to see MSR adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is simpler to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 30D ripstop nylon Xtreme Shield, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to rips and punctures. Also, the material has a 3000 mm waterproofing rating, which is very good for most circumstances.
  6. Available in other sizes. MSR has also made this model available in Other Sizes.

CONS

  1. Not roomy. With a floor area of 43 square feet, the Hubba 3 is smaller than quite a lot of the 163 other 3 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 9% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative factor for some people.
  3. Rainfly does not wholly cover the tent. The rainfly only covers the ceiling and part of the tent body from the top. Meaning it might not protect against heavy rain.
  4. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one sold separately specifically for the Hubba 3 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 30D ripstop nylon Xtreme Shield, it is still better to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  5. Discontinued: Unfortunately this particular tent has been discontinued on the manufactures website and is no longer available elsewhere, that we are aware of.
  6. A tad heavy for backpacking. Even though the Hubba 3, looks like a small tent, it is not ideal for backpacking as it weighs 6 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  7. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have many qualities to be positive about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

4.4 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.4 STARS

MSR's Hubba 3 Tour tent is perfect for backpacking. Here are a few other things not noted above which, were found and liked, while researching the model: Exoskeleton frame and unified rainfly and body keep the tent body dry during setup in bad weather., The mesh vestibule door maintains a bug-free zone for ride preparations. and Multiple large pockets hold jackets and cycling gear, while a gear loft stores smaller items..

With good ratings, and a minimum headroom of 3' and 43 square feet of area to sleep, this tent is like your very own miniature home away from home. It will allow you to spend some delightful moments camping. We found a decent amount of pros about the tent that you can study above.

If you came to this page looking for recommendations on this particular tent, our view is, it would make for an excellent acquisition. In case you simply happened to land on this website while browsing for a brand new tent having not heard of this manufacture or this tent model before, it is possibly a good idea to check out a few more similar tents.

Value for money: In so much as value for money, this tent is right around the standard price of all the one hundred and fifty-eight, three-person tents we have studied, this alone does not make it good value for money. We also need to think about other areas in-depth, as we do with every tent.

When we tally up the ratings of a single tent, we examine loads of areas, finding things where the tent could outdo other similar tents and where it is coming up short. In this case, with a total score of 4.4 and the price data above, we can conclude that with a price of $749.95 The Hubba 3 Tour is a great buy the price is not at all overpriced when compared with comparable tents.

The overall score shows that the quality and capacity, the tent offers make it a a decent buyfor campers looking for for a quality 3-person tent. It is also worth noting it is marked down by 0% from the manufactures MSRP. It will make a good choice for nearly all campers looking for an adequate three-season dome tent to go camping with, that should serve you well for years to come.
