Tent Set Up

Assembly is really easy with the tent clips that just snap in place over the poles

Summary: Favorable Reviews

I love how the rainfly covers almost the whole tent. Setting up and even taking down is just a piece of cake. I also didn't encounter any problems with the materials.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

One needs guidance, especially when a young child is setting this up. Poles may be vulnerable if not used in the right way. Same as the poles, the zippers also should be adequately taken care of because it's only a single zip. Since it has two doors, both will be affected.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Meramac 4 ZF FG has two windows and two doors and a peak center height of 5' 0, which is a tiny bit less than the average height of the 134 other 4 person tents we have studied. With 64 square feet of room inside, it is a tiny bit smaller than some other 4-person tents, and it could be a little tight for you and, up to three other campers throughout the 3-seasons, this tent is suggested for use in, smaller tents similar to this one often can make a nice choice for people who love spending heaps of hours outside exploring the great outdoors.

Some of the fantastic points about dome tents are, that they are for, the most part light, making them simple to carry. In near all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are usually, freestanding and very simple to set up. In good weather, you could do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are without a doubt the most commonly seen of all the different sorts of tents you will see when camping. They tend to fair better in storms than other types, allowing rain to roll off the slanted walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, allowing the rain to pool on the roof. The simplest dome tent should have a rectangular floor, sloped sides a couple of poles which cross in the middle of the roof. Due to their construction, it is usually thought of that they are ideal for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Underneath you can find an account of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Meramac ZF FG can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Has Gear Loft. It is good to see Alps Mountaineering adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  3. Has awnings. The awnings protect the sides of the tent.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is easier to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. More than one window. With 2 windows it is easier to keep the tent cooler on a hot summers night.
  6. Breathable. The Meramac's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the summer.
  7. Other sizes are available. Alps Mountaineering has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  8. Low price. It is a great purchase for a 4 person dome tent that provides this much space. Not many tents available on the market give this level of quality for only $239.99

CONS

  1. Not roomy. With a floor area of 64 square feet, the Meramac 4 is smaller than quite a lot of the 134 other 4 person tents we have looked at.
  2. No Vestibules. If you want to keep your dirty shoes, clothes, and backpacks protected from the rain etc, you will have to keep them inside the tent.
  3. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one available separately specifically for the Meramac 4 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 210D 110T Nylon Oxford multi-pass urethane coating, it is still better to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  4. A tad heavy for backpacking. Even though the Meramac 4, looks like a small tent, it is not probably the best choice for backpacking as it weighs 12 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  5. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have many attributes to rave about. The sloping sides do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.
  6. Storage Space. because of the size of the tent, one cannot store much gear inside..

CONCLUSION

4.2 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.2 STARS

Alps Mountaineering's Meramac 4 ZF FG tent is really good for bicycle & motorbike camping. Here are a couple of other nice points not mentioned above which, we found and liked, while researching the model: ZF Series: which stands for bigger Zipper and heavier Floor. , We even have our factory seal the seams on the floor and fly for maximum water repellency. and Our fiberglass poles are also normally one size larger than normal to offer you a sturdier, stronger tent..

With positive ratings, and a peak height of 5' and 64 square feet of space to play with, this tent is like your very own small flat. It allows you together with 2 other people to enjoy some really enjoyable time in the outdoors together. We found a decent amount of positive points about the tent that you can check out above.

If you found this website looking for an endorsement on this actual tent, we think, it will make for a good acquisition. In case you just happened to arrive on this page while looking for a brand new tent having not heard of this brand or this tent previously, it is perhaps a good idea to check out some other comparable tents.

Value for money: In so much as value for money, this tent is undoubtedly more competitive than the normal price of all the one hundred and fifty-four, four-person tents we have looked at, this just by itself does not make it excellent value for money. One should also take a look at other factors in detail, as we do with every tent.

When we measure the overall score of a tent, we regard a lot of stuff, searching for areas where the tent could excel against other near-identical tents and where it is not quite as good. In this case, with a total score of 4.2 and the price info above, It is simple enough to notice that with a price of $239.99 Alps Mountaineering's Meramac 4 ZF FG is a great bargain and astonishingly cheap when compared with comparable tents.

The overall score shows that the quality and capacity the tent offers were not compromised to obtain a price tag significantly under the usual price for comparable tents. It is also worth noting it is discounted by 0% from the manufactures suggested price. It could make a remarkable choice for nearly all people searching for an appropriate three-season dome tent to go camping in, that should serve you well for years to come.
