Summary: Favorable Reviews

The tent is pretty huge. I appreciate the product as a whole. Excellent stitching, good quality of fabrics, and you can see how durable it is just by touching it.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

I Don't have any major complaints about it just this one regarding its mesh. The side mesh cannot be zipped shut. It's pretty good when the weather is hot because it serves as ventilation. However, when the weather gets cold, it adds to that. Other than that, nothing else follows. Everything is all good.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Meramac 4 Outfitter has two windows and two doors and a maximum center height of 5' 0, which is a tiny bit less than the average height of the 134 other 4 person tents we have examined With 64 square feet of room inside, it is a little bit smaller than some other 4-person tents, and it could be a little tight for you and, up to three other campers all through the 3-seasons, this tent is suggested for use in, smaller tents similar to this one generally make a really good choice for people who welcome spending plenty of time outside of their tent exploring.

Some of the great things about dome tents are, that they are under normal circumstances lightweight, making them simple to carry. In most all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very simple to set up. In calm weather, you could do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are the most common of all the various sorts of tents you will see when camping. They tend to do better in bad weather than other types, allowing rain to easily slide off the slanted walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, allowing the water to pool on the top of the tent. The most straightforward dome tent will have a rectangular floor, sloped sides a couple of poles which cross in the center of the roof. Due to their construction, it is usually considered that they are best suited for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Below you can check out an account of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Meramac Outfitter can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Has Gear Loft. It is nice to see Alps Mountaineering adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  3. Has awnings. The awnings shelter the walls of the tent.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is easier to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. More than one window. With 2 openings it is easier to keep the tent cool on a hot summers night.
  6. Breathable. The Meramac's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the summer.
  7. Other sizes are available. Alps Mountaineering has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  8. Low price. It is a great deal for a 4 person dome tent providing this much room. Not a lot of tents available on the market give this level of quality for only $239.99 info_outline

CONS

  1. Not roomy. With a floor area of 64 square feet, the Meramac 4 is smaller than quite a few of the 134 other 4 person tents we have looked at.
  2. No Vestibules. If you want to keep your dirty shoes, clothes, and backpacks protected from the rain etc, you must keep them inside the tent.
  3. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one sold separately specifically for the Meramac 4 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 75D 185T poly taffeta, it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  4. A tad heavy for backpacking. Even though the Meramac 4, looks like a small tent, it is not ideal for backpacking as it weighs 10 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  5. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have heaps of attributes to rave about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.
  6. Storage Space. because of the size of the tent, one cannot store much gear inside..

CONCLUSION

4.3 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.3 STARS

Alps Mountaineering's Meramac 4 Outfitter tent is good for bicycle & motorbike camping. There are a couple of other nice points not noted above which, were found and liked, while researching the model: The Outfitter has 3 key upgrades: oversized #10 door zippers, a heavy duty nylon oxford floor, and 7000 Series aluminum poles. , The fly buckles to the tent, offering a much more secure attachment when compared to elastic cord. and The polyester fly and oxford floor are urethane coated, with factory sealed seams for maximum weatherproofness..

With favorable ratings, a few reviews and a minimum headroom of 5' and 64 square feet of space for sleeping, this tent is like your own modest home away from home. It will enable you together with 2 other friends to spend some really enjoyable time exploring the great outdoors. We found a decent amount of positive points about the tent that you can check out above.

If you simply happened to arrive on this page while looking for a brand new tent having never heard of this manufacurer or this tent previously, it is perhaps a good idea to look at a few more similar tents also.

Value for money: When considering value for your money, this tent is a lot cheaper than the average price of all the one hundred and fifty-four, four-person tents we have taken a look at, this by itself does not make it awesome value for money. One should also look at other areas in-depth, as we do with each tent.

When we tally up the score of an individual tent, we study a lot of conditions, searching for things where the tent could outshine other comparable tents and where it is coming up short. On this occasion, with an overall score of 4.3 and the price knowledge above, we can notice that with a cost of $239.99 info_outline The Meramac 4 Outfitter is a decent bargain and astonishingly cheap when compared with similar tents.

Its overall score shows that the quality and dimensions the tent provides were not compromised to finish up with a price significantly below the standard price for comparable tents. It is also worth thinking about the fact that it is discounted by 25% from the manufactures MSRP. It will make a very good choice for most campers looking for an adequate three-season dome tent to go camping in, that should serve you well for years to come.
