Summary: Favorable Reviews

Campers stated: You won't find a tent in this size at this weight with aluminum poles and ... basically the entire feature set this tent has is unbeatable for the price. Very easy to setup and plenty of room.

Teal Thumbs Down Logo

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

People mentioned: The primary concern I have with the tent is its absence of interior pockets, as it only has a gear loft and no side pockets. Additionally, the fact that the tent is white is problematic for me, as I reside in Michigan where daylight can persist past 10 pm and dawn can occur before 6 am, resulting in a brightly lit tent during these hours.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Acropolis 3 has two doors and a peak center height of 4' 3, which is a tiny bit less than the average height of the 169 different 3 person tents we have studied. With 50 square feet of room inside, it is a tiny bit larger than some other 3-person tents, and it should accommodate you and, up to two other campers throughout the 3-seasons, this tent is approved for use in, smaller tents like this one make a good choice for people that love spending plenty of time outside of the tent enjoying the fresh air.

A few of the great things about dome tents are, that they are under normal circumstances lightweight, making them simple to carry around. In near all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are usually, freestanding and very simple to set up. In calm weather, you could do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are the most commonly seen of all the different types of tents you will see when camping. They tend to fair better in the rain than other types, allowing rain to easily slide off the sloped walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, resulting in the rain pooling on the top of the tent. The most straightforward dome tent should have a rectangular footprint, slanted walls a couple of poles which converge in the middle of the roof. Due to their construction, it is typically thought of that they are ideal for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Beneath you can check out an account of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Acropolis can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not even have to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the floor with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Offers you somewhere to store shoes and other things that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
  3. Has Gear Loft. It is nice to see Alps Mountaineering adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is simpler to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 75D 185T poly taffeta, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to tears and punctures. Also, the material has a 3000 mm waterproofing rating, which is very good for most circumstances.
  6. Breathable. The Acropolis's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the summer.
  7. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the entire body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1500mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy rain.
  8. Lots of Positive Reviews The Acropolis 3 has Plenty of fantastic Reviews
  9. Great Ratings The Acropolis 3 has some of the best ratings of all the tents on optimumtents.com
  10. Other sizes are available. Alps Mountaineering has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  11. Low price. It is a great deal for a 3 person dome tent providing this much room. Not a lot of tents available on the market provide this level of quality for only $161.73

CONS

  1. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one sold separately specifically for the Acropolis 3 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 75D 185T poly taffeta, it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  2. A little heavy for backpacking. Even though the Acropolis 3, looks like a small tent, it is not ideal for backpacking as it weighs 7 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  3. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have lots of attributes to be positive about. The sloping sides do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

4.8 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.8 STARS

Alps Mountaineering's Acropolis 3 tent is perfect for bicycle & motorbike camping. There are a couple of other nice points not mentioned above which, we found and liked, while reviewing the model: Two vestibules for gear storage and extra weather protection, Easy entry with two doors and Mesh roof increases ventilation and improves star-gazing.

With superb ratings, quite a few reviews and a center height of 4' and 50 square feet of area to sleep, this tent is like your very own little apartment. This will allow you and up to 2 other campers to enjoy some really enjoyable moments enjoying nature. We found lots of positive things about the tent that you can check out above.

If you found this website looking for recommendations on this specific tent, we think, it should make for a very good buy. In case you just happened to arrive on this page while looking for a new tent having not heard of this brand or this model before, it is probably a good idea to check out a few more comparable tents also.

Value for money: When considering value for money, this tent is without a doubt cheaper than the standard cost of all the one hundred and sixty-nine, three-person tents we have taken a look at, all alone this does not make it awesome value for money. We also need to think about other things in-depth, as we do with each tent.

When we measure the ratings of a tent, we consider plenty of stuff, finding things where the tent could outshine other similar tents and where it is lacking. In this case, with an overall rating of 4.8 and the price data above, It is simple to recognize that with a price of $161.73 The Acropolis 3 is an excellent purchase and incredibly competitively priced when compared with comparable tents.

Its ratings show that the quality and dimensions the tent gives you were not in any way skimped on to finish up with a price tag well below the normal price for comparable tents. It could make an excellent choice for most campers looking for an appropriate three-season dome tent to go camping in, that should serve you well for years to come.
