Tent Set Up

Symmetric pole structure and precut guylines and tensioners attached to fly make setup a breeze

Summary: Favorable Reviews

Campers who purchased the tent said: They have used it more than three times, and its charm has not disappeared yet. Easy enough to set up pretty quickly. The MtnGLO is more than a gimmick, it works well during night time. Great item exactly as described. Never a problem even after using it five times now. The rainfly's waterproofing worked well, with no leaks or moisture inside at all. Easily survived heavy rain and wind on a week-long trip. Perfect for two adults.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

People who bought the tent reported: It is not great for frigid weather even though it is a 3 season tent. Unfortunately, the footprint is sold separately. Yes, the rainfly can cover all the tent when you close it, but the ventilation is then not adequate, especially on a hot summer night. The fabric of the tent was not as thick as expected. One person mentioned the poles are okay, but not fantastic. It is not the quickest of tents to set up. Setting this up all by yourself is a bit of a challenge. It would help if you were careful of possible rips, the fabric is a little bit thin. I mean, it's not that thick. During moderate winds, you should firmly stake it down.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Tumble 2 mtnGLO has two doors and a maximum center height of 3' 7, which is a tiny bit smaller than the average height of the 204 different 2 person tents we have examined With 31 square feet of room inside, it is considerably smaller than some other 2-person tents, and it would be quite cramped for you and, another camper throughout the 3-seasons, this tent is approved for use in, smaller tents like this one make a superb choice for people that prefer spending plenty of hours outside exploring the great outdoors.

Some of the cool points about dome tents are, that they are under normal circumstances lightweight, making them easy to carry. In most all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are usually, freestanding and very straightforward to set up. In good weather, you could do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are the most common of all the various types of tents you will see when camping. They tend to fair better in bad weather than other types, allowing rain to easily slide off the slanted sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, allowing the water to pool on the top of the tent. The simplest dome tent will have a rectangular floor, sloped sides a couple of poles which cross in the middle of the roof. Due to their construction, it is typically thought of that they are best for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Underneath you can find a list of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Tumble mtnGLO can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Offers you somewhere to store shoes and other things that can get dirty, muddy, this is a big plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is nice to see Big Agnes has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your gear.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is easier to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the whole body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1500mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy downpours.
  6. Available in other sizes. Big Agnes has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  7. Low price. It is a great buy for a 2 person dome tent that provides this much space. Not a lot of tents available on the market provide this level of quality for only $269.95

CONS

  1. Not spacious. With a floor area of 31 square feet, the Tumble 2 is smaller than quite a lot of the 204 other 2 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 8% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative thing for some campers.
  3. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one sold separately designed for the Tumble 2 footprint Even though the floor may be made of Polyester taffeta, it is still better to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  4. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have many attributes to be positive about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

4.3 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.3 STARS

Big Agnes's Tumble 2 mtnGLO tent is suitable for backpacking. Here are a couple of other nice points not mentioned above which, we noticed and liked, while researching the model: A simple push button controller with three settings on, off and 50% brightness controls the mtnGLO lights, Quick Stash door keeper on tent body door makes stowing unzipped door quick and easy and Pre-bent pole architecture increases volume and livable space.

With good ratings, a couple of reviews and a peak height of 3' and 31 square feet of space to enjoy, this tent is like your own miniature home away from home. This enables you to spend some really enjoyable time in the outdoors. We found a decent amount of positive points about the tent that you can read through above.

If you found this website looking for recommendations on this actual tent, our view is, it would make for a good acquisition. If you just happened to arrive on this website while looking for a new tent having not heard of this manufacurer or this tent before, it is possibly a good idea to look at a few more comparable tents also.

Value for money: When considering value for money, this tent is a lot more competitive than the average price of all the two hundred and eighty-five, two-person tents we have looked at, this alone does not make it good value for money. We also need to take a look at other factors in-depth, as we do for each tent.

When we calculate the overall score of a single tent, we regard tons of areas, finding things where the tent could excel against other comparable tents and where it is lacking. In this case, with an overall rating of 4.3 and the price details above, It is simple to observe that with a cost of $269.95 The Tumble 2 mtnGLO is a very good deal and astonishingly cheap in comparison with similar tents.

Its ratings show that the quality and dimensions the tent offers were not skimped on to arrive at a price undoubtedly beneath the usual price for comparable tents. It is also worth noting it is discounted by 0% from the manufactures suggested retail price. It will make a very good choice for nearly all campers searching for an adequate three-season backpacking tent to go camping with, that should serve you well for years to come.
