Tent Set Up

Easy setup with Color Coded "Easy Pitch" Clips, Poles and Fly

Green Thumbs Up Logo

Summary: Favorable Reviews

Campers who purchased the tent said: They much prefer the new green color, to the previous orange color. Ridiculously easy to set up and tear down. No condensation, the tub at the base is sealed tight, not allowing in any water. Moving at a reasonable pace, you can set up this tent by yourself in 5-7 minutes. It has lots of vertical space and a nifty light device. There's decent ventilation with the fly staked out and the vent open.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

People who bought the tent reported: That airflow on a hot summer night with the fly on was not great. Heavier than similar-sized tents. The poles twist and flip in strong winds. It does not come with enough stakes.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Tungsten 1 has one door and a maximum center height of 3' 2, which is a little bit less than the average height of the 68 other 1 person tents we have examined With 20 square feet of room inside, it is considerably smaller than some other 1-person tents, and it would be quite tight for you all through the 3-seasons, this tent is approved for use in, smaller tents like this one can make a good choice for campers that enjoy spending plenty of time outside their tent getting some air.

Some of the fantastic points about dome tents are, that they are generally speaking lightweight, making them simple to carry. In nearly all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are usually, freestanding and very easy to set up. In calm weather, you could do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are without a doubt the most common of all the different sorts of tents you will see when camping. They tend to do better in the rain than other types, allowing water to easily slide off the sloped walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, allowing the rain to pool on the top of the tent. The most basic dome tent should have a square footprint, sloped sides two or more poles which converge in the center of the roof. Due to the way they are made, it is typically considered that they are best for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Beneath you can see an account of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Tungsten can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibule. Having one vestibule. Offers you somewhere to store shoes and other things that can get dirty, muddy, this is a big plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is good to see Marmot has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your stuff.
  4. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 68D Polyester Taffeta 190T F/R, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to rips and punctures. Also, the material has a 2000 mm waterproofing rating, which is very good for most circumstances.
  5. Includes FootPrint. It is quite rare to see a footprint included with a tent. It is suggested to always use a footprint, so not having to buy one is a bonus.
  6. Breathable. The Tungsten's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the warmer months.
  7. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the whole body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1500mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy downpours.
  8. Other sizes are available. Marmot has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  9. Low price. It is a great deal for a 1 person dome tent that provides this much space. Not a lot of tents available on the market provide this level of quality for only $193

CONS

  1. Not spacious. With a floor area of 20 square feet, the Tungsten 1 is smaller than quite a few of the 68 other 1 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 6% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative thing for some people.
  3. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have many qualities to be positive about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

3.3 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 3.3 STARS

Marmot's Tungsten 1 tent is suitable for backpacking. There are a few other cool things not already mentioned above which, we noticed and liked, while researching the model: This tent has plenty of room with volume-optimizing design and pre-bend for maximum sleeping space, Lamp Shade Pocket Securely Holds Your Headlamp to Provide Ambient Light and Zone Pre-Bend Construction Creates Vertical Walls, More Roomy Sleeping Area and Greater Head Room.

With great ratings, a couple of reviews and a peak height of 3' and 20 square feet of space to play with, this tent is like your very own modest studio. It enables you to spend some delightful moments exploring the great outdoors. We found a decent amount of positive points about the tent that you can check out above.

If you came to this website looking for suggestions on this specific tent, our view is, it would make for a good acquisition. If you just happened to land on this page while looking for a new tent having not heard of this manufacurer or this tent before, it is possibly a good idea to look at a few more comparable tents.

Value for money: When thinking about value for money, this tent is a cheaper than the normal price of all the one hundred and six, one-person tents we have looked at, this itself does not make it awesome value for money. One should also look at other things in detail, as we do with every tent.

When we determine the ratings of an individual tent, we reflect upon a lot of things, searching for points where the tent could outperform other near-identical tents and where it is not quite as good. On this occasion, with an overall rating of 3.3 and the price statistics above, one can identify that with a ticket price of $193 The Tungsten 1 is a good buy and astonishingly priced in comparison with similar tents.

The overall score shows that the quality and capacity the tent offers were not skimped on to finish up with a price tag undoubtedly below the standard price for comparable tents. It should make a fantastic choice for most people searching for an adequate three-season backpacking tent to go camping with, that will serve you well for years to come.
