Summary: Favorable Reviews

Currently, there are no campers who have used the new 2020 Tungsten Ultralight 1p tent and written a review yet! The build and style are nearly identical to the older Tugsten UL 1 Model, which has lots of reviews. Campers who purchased the tent said: It was the best tent ever. The rain fly with its vestibule worked well in blowing rain and hail, keeping the inside of the tent dry. The set up was easy and quick for one person. The tent is spacious inside. The size to weight ratio of the tent was excellent. For as light as it is, I was expecting something smaller. The dual doors and vestibules were a convenient feature for keeping the tent clutter and dirt free.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Currently, there are no people who have used the new 2020 Tungsten Ultralight 1 person tent and written a review yet! The build and style are nearly identical to the older Tugsten UL 1 Model, which has lots of reviews. People who bought the tent mentioned: The fly touches the inner tent in strong winds and rain, resulting in condensation. Drips of water were noted at the vent on the leeward side while we were brushed by tropical storm Alberto's rainbands. Poles are not the strongest.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Tungsten 1 Ultralight 2020 has one door and a peak center height of 3' 2, which is a little bit less than the average height of the 69 various 1 person tents we have studied. With 20 square feet of space inside, it is a lot smaller than some other 1-person tents, and it would be quite cramped for you during the 3-seasons, this tent is approved for use in, smaller tents similar to this one often make a suitable choice for campers that welcome spending plenty of time outside the tent exploring.

Some of the fantastic things about dome tents are, that they are for, the most part lightweight, making them easy to carry. In nearly all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very easy to set up. In good weather, you could do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is suggested.

Dome tents are easily the most common of all the different types of tents you will see when camping. They tend to do better in bad weather than other types, allowing water to easily slide off the sloped walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, resulting in the water pooling on the top of the tent. The most straightforward dome tent should have a square footprint, slanted walls two or more poles which cross in the center of the roof. Due to the way they are made, it is generally considered that they are ideal for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Underneath you can see a list of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Tungsten Ultralight 2020 can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not even have to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the floor with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibule. Having one vestibule. Affords you a place to store shoes and other things that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is good to see Marmot has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your gear.
  4. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is Polyester Ripstop, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to tears and punctures. Also, the material has a 2000 mm waterproofing rating, which is pretty good for most circumstances.
  5. Breathable. The Tungsten's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the warmer months.
  6. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the whole body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1500mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy rain.
  7. Available in other sizes. Marmot has also made this model available in Other Sizes.

CONS

  1. Not roomy. With a floor area of 20 square feet, the Tungsten 1 is smaller than quite a few of the 69 other 1 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 6% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative factor for some people.
  3. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, The floor may be made of Polyester Ripstop but it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, more so on rough terrain.
  4. Out of Stock. Unfortunately this particular tent is not currently in stock. It is still on the manufactures site the last time we checked.
  5. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have lots of qualities to rave about. The sloping sides do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

4.2 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.2 STARS

Marmot's Tungsten 1 Ultralight 2020 tent is good for backpacking. Here are a couple of other points not mentioned above which, were found and liked, while reviewing the model: Zone pre-bend construction creates vertical walls for plenty of sleeping space and headroom for stretching out after your day outdoors, Free-standing design with two D-shaped doors and two vestibules for gear storage and Rain-shield polyester flysheet doesn't stretch and sag when wet and resists UV damage.

With good ratings, and a peak height of 3' and 20 square feet of area to sleep, this tent is like your own miniature home away from home. It allows you to spend some really enjoyable time hanging out with nature. We found a decent amount of positive points about the tent that you can check out above.

If you came to this website looking for suggestions on this particular tent, our view is, it should make for a great buy. If you simply happened to land on this page while browsing for a brand new tent having not heard of this manufacurer or this tent model previously, it is possibly a good idea to look at a few other comparable tents.

Value for money: As far as value for your dollar, this tent is more pricey than the usual cost of all the one hundred and five, one-person tents we have taken a look at, this alone is not a negative thing. We also need to take into account other things in detail, as we do with each tent.

When we calculate the score of a tent, we consider loads of things, looking for areas where the tent could exceed other very similar tents and where it is coming up short. In this case, with an overall score of 4.2 and the price data above, we can view that with a ticket price of $349.00 The Tungsten 1 Ultralight 2020 is a good deal although it may be perceived as quite costly when set side by side with comparable tents.

Its ratings show that the quality and dimensions the tent offers make it a very good choice for those searching for a tent that can last for plenty of years. It should make an ok choice for most people searching for a comfy three-season backpacking tent to go camping with, that should serve you well for years to come.
