Tent Set Up

Straightforward design and simple setup

Green Thumbs Up Logo

Summary: Favorable Reviews

The screens provide great ventilation as well as protection from bugs. Easy to set up; takes less than 15 minutes. It can even be used without the rainfly, making set up even easier in calm or warm weather.

Teal Thumbs Down Logo

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Door velcro ripped after a few uses. Some stitching is loose and the threads come off. Too much airflow; not good for cold weather. The wind may also blow dust towards the inside of the tent.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Midori 4 Basecamp has two doors and a peak center height of 5' 0, which is a tiny bit smaller than the average height of the 141 different 4 person tents we have examined With 64 square feet of room inside, it is a little bit smaller than some other 4-person tents, and it could be a little tight for you and, up to three other campers throughout the 3-seasons, this tent is recommended for use in, smaller tents like this one make an excellent choice for campers that prefer spending plenty of hours outside of the tent enjoying the fresh air.

A few of the cool things about dome tents are, that they are generally speaking not too heavy, making them simple to carry around. In near all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very straightforward to set up. In calm weather, you can do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are without a doubt the most commonly seen of all the different types of tents you will see when camping. They tend to do better in the rain than other types, allowing water to roll off the sloped sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, resulting in the rain pooling on the top of the tent. The most basic dome tent should have a square footprint, slanted walls a couple of poles which converge in the middle of the roof. Due to the way they are made, it is usually thought of that they are best suited for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Down below, you can see an account of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Midori Basecamp can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the floor with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibule. Having one vestibule. Offers you somewhere to store shoes and other things that can get dirty, muddy, this is a big plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is nice to see Eureka has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your stuff.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is easier to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. Breathable. The Midori's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the summer.
  6. Available in other sizes. Eureka has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  7. Low price. It is a great purchase for a 4 person dome tent providing this much space. Not a lot of tents available on the market provide this level of quality for only $249.95

CONS

  1. Not spacious. With a floor area of 64 square feet, the Midori 4 is smaller than quite a lot of the 141 other 4 person tents we have looked at.
  2. No windows. With no windows it is not easy to keep the tent ventilated on a hot summers night.
  3. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, The floor may be made of Polyester taffeta but it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, more so on rough terrain.
  4. Discontinued: Unfortunately this particular tent has been discontinued on the manufactures site and is no longer available elsewhere, that we know of.
  5. A little heavy for backpacking. Even though the Midori 4, looks like a small tent, it is not ideal for backpacking as it weighs 8 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  6. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have heaps of things to be positive about. The sloping sides do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

4.2 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.2 STARS

Eureka's Midori 4 Basecamp tent is good for bicycle & motorbike camping. There are a few other points not noted above which, were found and liked, while reviewing the model: Hooded fly vents and mesh panels in the tent body, Large, side-entry D-style doors and Freestanding, shockcorded frame with post and grommet assembly.

With good ratings, a couple of reviews and a center height of 5' and 64 square feet of space to play with, this tent is like your very own little home away from home. This will allow you together with 2 other campers to share some really enjoyable moments in the outdoors together. We found a decent amount of pros about the tent that you can check out above.

If you came to this page looking for an endorsement about this specific tent, we think, it would make for a good acquisition. In case you simply happened to land on this page while browsing for a new tent having not heard of this brand or this tent before, it is possibly a good idea to check out a few more comparable tents also.

Value for money: As far as value for money, this tent is a more competitive than the average cost of all the one hundred and sixty, four-person tents we have taken a look at, this by itself does not make it awesome value for money. We also need to look at other areas in-depth, as we do for each tent.

When we determine the overall score of a single tent, we study plenty of things, searching for points where the tent could beat other near-identical tents and where it is not quite as good. On this occasion, with an overall rating of 4.2 and the price conclusions above, It is simple enough to view that with a cost of $249.95 Eureka's Midori 4 Basecamp is a decent purchase and incredibly priced in comparison with comparable tents.

Its ratings show that the build and capacity the tent provides were not skimped on to finish up with a price tag undoubtedly below the average price for comparable tents. It will make an exceptional choice for nearly all people searching for an adequate three-season dome tent to camp with, that should serve you well for years to come.
