SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Midori 6 Basecamp has two doors and a peak center height of 6' 0, which is a tiny bit less than the average height of the 111 other 6 person tents we have studied. With 85 square feet of room inside, it is significantly smaller than some other 6-person tents, and it would be quite cramped for you and, up to five other campers all through the 3-seasons, this tent is recommended for use in, smaller tents similar to this one often make a good choice for people that welcome spending lots of hours outside exploring the great outdoors.

Many of the great things about dome tents are, that they are under normal circumstances not too heavy, making them easy to carry around. In nearly all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are usually, freestanding and very simple to set up. In calm weather, you could do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are without a doubt the most commonly seen of all the different sorts of tents you will find when camping. They tend to fair better in the rain than other types, allowing water to easily slide off the slanted sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, resulting in the water pooling on the roof. The most basic dome tent will have a square floor, slanted walls two or more poles which converge in the center of the roof. Because of the way they are made, it is typically thought of that they are best suited for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Beneath you can find a list of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Midori Basecamp can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the floor with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibule. Having one vestibule. Gives you somewhere to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is good to see Eureka has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your stuff.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is easier to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. Breathable. The Midori's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the warmer months.
  6. Available in other sizes. Eureka has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  7. Low price. It is a great buy for a 6 person dome tent that provides this much room. Not a lot of tents available on the market provide this level of quality for only $299.95

CONS

  1. Susceptible to wind. Because of its size and shape, the Midori may not do best in strong winds if it is not firmly secured with the provided guy lines and stakes. Even though the tent is listed as freestanding in all but very calm conditions, one would want to stake and tie it down correctly.
  2. Not spacious. With a floor area of 85 square feet, the Midori 6 is smaller than quite a few of the 111 other 6 person tents we have looked at.
  3. No windows. With no windows it is not easy to keep the tent ventilated on a hot summers night.
  4. Only one room. The Midori is suggested for 6 campers, many other tents of a similar size have more than one room allowing for a little more privacy.
  5. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, The floor may be made of Polyester taffeta but it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  6. Discontinued: Unfortunately this particular tent has been discontinued on the manufactures site and is not available elsewhere, that we are aware of.
  7. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have lots of attributes to be positive about. The sloping sides do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

4.2 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.2 STARS

Eureka's Midori 6 Basecamp tent is suitable for bicycle & motorbike camping. There are a couple of other things not mentioned above which, were noticed and liked, while researching the model: Hooded fly vents and mesh panels in the tent body, Large, side-entry D-style doors and Freestanding, shockcorded frame with post and grommet assembly.

With favorable ratings, a couple of reviews and a peak height of 6' and 85 square feet of area to sleep, this tent is like your own modest home away from home. This enables you together with 4 other friends to enjoy some real quality time in the outdoors together. We found a decent amount of positive points about the tent that you can study above.

If you found this website looking for suggestions about this particular tent, we think, it will make for a good acquisition. In case you just happened to arrive on this page while looking for a brand new tent having never heard of this manufacurer or this tent model previously, it is probably a good idea to check out a few more comparable tents also.

Value for money: In terms of value for your money, this tent is cheaper than the usual price of all the one hundred and eight, six-person tents we have looked at, this itself does not make it great value for money. We also need to take into account other areas in-depth, as we do with every tent.

When we determine the ratings of a single tent, we examine a good deal of stuff, finding areas where the tent could beat out other near-identical tents and where it is not quite as good. In this case, with a total rating of 4.2 and the price statistics above, one can see that with a price of $299.95 The Midori 6 Basecamp is a great purchase and reasonably priced when compared with comparable tents.

The ratings show that the quality and capacity the tent provides were not compromised to finish up with a price tag unquestionably under the standard price for comparable tents. It could make an exceptional choice for nearly all people looking for an adequate three-season dome tent to camp with, that should serve you well for years to come.
