Easy free-standing two-pole design with shock corded fiberglass poles setup
Meramac 5 is so easy to set up, and it ventilates very well. I was amazed at the fact that it survived heavy rain. I didn't collapse. It stood firm and protected me during the rain.
Windy conditions are not the perfect weather for this tent. It can handle a little wind, but when it is very strong, it may bend some. I wish they added some tie-downs to secure it. Same as when it rains, heavy rain is its weakness.

A few of the great things about dome tents are, that they are for, the most part light, making them simple to carry around. In near all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very straightforward to set up. In calm weather, you could do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is suggested.
Dome tents are without a doubt the most common of all the other types of tents you will see when camping. They tend to fair better in the rain than other types, allowing water to roll off the sloped sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, allowing the rain to pool on the top. The most straightforward dome tent will have a square footprint, sloped walls two or more poles which cross in the center of the roof. Because of their construction, it is typically thought of that they are best suited for up to a maximum of 6 people.
