Summary: Favorable Reviews

The ventilation design is outstanding. I love the idea of having a full door on each side of the tent. The quality that you will get is similar to other tents that cost three times as much.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Not a great tent for windy conditions. If you have any gear, only two people might get in. It's so sad also at the fact that it doesn't have vestibules

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Meramac 3 has two windows and two doors and a peak center height of 4' 4, which is a little bit less than the average height of the 139 various 3 person tents we have examined With 49 square feet of space inside, it is a little bit larger than some other 3-person tents, and it should accommodate you and, up to two other campers all through the 3-seasons, this tent is suggested for use in, smaller tents similar to this one are a really nice choice for people that welcome spending plenty of time outside the tent exploring.

Many of the cool things about dome tents are, that they are generally speaking not too heavy, making them simple to carry. In near all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very easy to set up. In good weather, you could do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is suggested.

Dome tents are the most commonly seen of all the other types of tents you will see when camping. They tend to fair better in bad weather than other types, allowing rain to roll off the slanted walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, allowing the rain to pool on the roof. The simplest dome tent should have a square floor, sloped walls two or more poles which converge in the center of the roof. Because of their construction, it is generally thought of that they are best for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Below you can check out a list of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Meramac can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not even have to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Has Gear Loft. It is nice to see Alps Mountaineering adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  3. Has awnings. The awnings shelter the walls of the tent.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is simpler to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. More than one window. With 2 windows it is easier to keep the tent ventilated on a hot summers night.
  6. Breathable. The Meramac's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the summer.
  7. Available in other sizes. Alps Mountaineering has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  8. Low price. It is a great buy for a 3 person dome tent that provides this much room. Not many tents available on the market provide this level of quality for only $169.99

CONS

  1. No Vestibules. If you want to keep your dirty shoes, clothes, and backpacks protected from the rain etc, you need keep them inside the tent.
  2. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one available separately specifically for the Meramac 3 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 75D 185T poly taffeta, it is still better to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  3. A tad heavy for backpacking. Even though the Meramac 3, looks like a small tent, it is not ideal for backpacking as it weighs 9 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  4. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have many attributes to be positive about. The sloping sides do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

4.9 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.9 STARS

Alps Mountaineering's Meramac 3 tent is really good for bicycle & motorbike camping. Here are a couple of other cool things not already mentioned above which, were found and liked, while researching the model: Our fiberglass poles are also normally one size larger than normal to offer you a sturdier, stronger tent., Easy entry with two doors and single-zip operation and The fly uses a pole in the top, which gives you an awning over each door for excellent rain protection.

With excellent ratings, tons of reviews and a minimum headroom of 4' and 49 square feet of area to sleep, this tent is like your very own small flat. This allows you together with 2 other people to share some real quality time camping together. We found a decent amount of pros about the tent that you can look at above.

If you found this page looking for suggestions about this actual tent, our view is, it should make for an excellent acquisition. In case you simply happened to arrive on this page while looking for a new tent having never heard of this manufacurer or this tent model before, it is perhaps a good thing to check out some more comparable tents also.

Value for money: In terms of value for your money, this tent is significantly cheaper than the usual cost of all the one hundred and ninety-three, three-person tents we have studied, all alone this does not make it excellent value for money. One should also take a look at other areas in detail, as we do for every tent.

When we determine the valuation of a single tent, we consider plenty of stuff, searching for areas where the tent could exceed other similar tents and where it is coming up short. On this occasion, with a total rating of 4.9 and the price info above, one can conclude that with a ticket price of $169.99 The Meramac 3 is an excellent bargain and fabulously competitively priced when compared with similar tents.

The ratings show that the quality and capacity the tent gives you were not in any way compromised to arrive at a price tag unquestionably under the normal price for comparable tents. It is also worth thinking about the fact that it is discounted by 0% from the manufactures suggested price. It could make a remarkable choice for nearly all campers searching for an appropriate three-season dome tent to camp in, that should serve you well for years to come.
