Summary: Favorable Reviews

Great tent for its price. I Didn't encounter any problem while setting it up or taking it down. The materials are superb. Couldn't say anything less about it.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

I don't know how good it is during windy conditions, but it survived and didn't break when I used it during the rain. Three persons for this is also a bit tight if I am going to judge it.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Meramac 3 Outfitter has two windows and two doors and a maximum center height of 4' 4, which is a tiny bit less than the average height of the 139 different 3 person tents we have studied. With 49 square feet of room inside, it is a tiny bit larger than some other 3-person tents, and it should accommodate you and, up to two other campers during the 3-seasons, this tent is suggested for use in, smaller tents similar to this one often make a very nice choice for people who love spending heaps of time outside of the tent enjoying the fresh air.

Many of the great points about dome tents are, that they are under normal circumstances lightweight, making them easy to carry around. In near all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very straightforward to set up. In calm weather, you can do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is suggested.

Dome tents are the most commonly seen of all the different types of tents you will find when camping. They tend to fair better in the rain than other types, allowing water to easily slide off the sloped walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, allowing the rain to pool on the top. The simplest dome tent will have a rectangular footprint, sloped sides two or more poles which converge in the center of the roof. Because of their construction, it is typically considered that they are best for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Meramac Outfitter can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Has Gear Loft. It is good to see Alps Mountaineering adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  3. Has awnings. The awnings protect the sides of the tent.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is easier to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. More than one window. With 2 windows it is easier to keep the tent cooler on a hot summers night.
  6. Breathable. The Meramac's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the warmer months.
  7. Other sizes are available. Alps Mountaineering has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  8. Low price. It is a great purchase for a 3 person dome tent that provides this much space. Not a lot of tents available on the market provide this level of quality for only $219.99 info_outline

CONS

  1. No Vestibules. If you want to keep your dirty shoes, clothes, and backpacks protected from the elements, you must keep them inside the tent.
  2. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one sold separately specifically for the Meramac 3 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 210D 110T Nylon, it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  3. A tad heavy for backpacking. Even though the Meramac 3, looks like a small tent, it is not probably the best choice for backpacking as it weighs 8 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  4. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have heaps of attributes to rave about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

Our Ratings: 4.4 STARS

Alps Mountaineering's Meramac 3 Outfitter tent is good for bicycle & motorbike camping. Here are a few other points not already mentioned above which, we found and liked, while researching the model: The Outfitter has 3 key upgrades: oversized #10 door zippers, a heavy duty nylon oxford floor, and 7000 Series aluminum poles. , The fly buckles to the tent, offering a much more secure attachment when compared to elastic cord. and The polyester fly and oxford floor are urethane coated, with factory sealed seams for maximum weatherproofness..

With wonderful ratings, a couple of reviews and a minimum headroom of 4' and 49 square feet of area to sleep, this tent is like your own modest apartment. If you simply happened to arrive on this website while browsing for a brand new tent having not heard of this brand or this model before, it is probably a good thing to check out some other comparable tents.

Value for money: When contemplating value for your money, this tent is a lot cheaper than the standard price of all the one hundred and ninety-three, three-person tents we have looked at, this just by itself does not make it good value for money. One should also think about other things in detail, as we do with each tent.

When we tally up the ratings of a tent, we study tons of areas, finding points where the tent could outdo other comparable tents and where it is coming up short. On this occasion, with a total score of 4.4 and the price knowledge above, one can conclude that with a price of $219.99 info_outline Alps Mountaineering's Meramac 3 Outfitter is a very good bargain and incredibly cheap when compared with similar tents.

It should make a very good choice for most campers searching for an adequate three-season dome tent to go camping with, that will serve you well for years to come.
